According to The Mirror, Paramount has halted filming on the eighth Mission: Impossible film following a £23m submarine crash. Sources with inside knowledge of the production say the gimbal used to lower the 120-foot-tall structure buckled under the weight and had to be repaired. As a result, the studio decided to stop filming, and the report said, “They are not happy because it will delay production, which will cost them a lot of money per day.”

The production of Mission Impossible 8 has faced two delays, the first due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the second due to the actors and writers strike. It’s not yet clear how many days of filming will be lost, but each represents an increase in the budget, which is said to be huge.

The next Mission: Impossible movie hits theaters on May 23, 2025.
