James Gunn reveals his discarded ideas for several Guardians of the Galaxy spin-offs

On the podcast Happy Sad Confused by Josh Horowitz, Gunn mentioned all those Marvel Studios projects he wanted to make, including one focused on Rocket and Groot. The director spoke about these plans when asked if there was anything he felt he couldn’t explore with the Guardians.

“There are so many. Yes, I thought the Ravagers show might be fun. The legendary Star-Lord, frankly, we had a whole idea for that. And then Rocket and Groot. To be honest, Rocket and Groot is what Guardians 3 was, so I wanted to do Rocket and Groot first, and then they talked me into doing Guardians 3 instead of Rocket and Groot. “I knew I had to tell Rocket’s story.”

Wonder has the difficult task of continuing this franchise without Gunn, but what’s clear is that fans want to continue seeing these characters in the future. UCM.
