Charles Soule confirms the end of the series and advances new plans with Marvel in the symbiote universe

The roar of Carnage will be silenced again in November. Marvel Comics has decided to put an end to it all Eddie Brock: Carnage with his number 10as confirmed by its screenwriter Charles Soulewho took advantage of the news to reflect on the series and pursue his next project in the symbiote universe.

Soule, known for his phases in Reckless Yes Star Wars: Darth Vaderhe expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have led Eddie Brock and his new symbiote towards darker and more psychological terrain. “I really enjoyed writing this comic. It ended up being a character-driven story, a literalization of a boy facing his demons. Plus, it was a pure horror series, a genre I don’t usually touch on that much in Marvel or Star Wars,” the author explained.

The end of the new Carnage series

The result promises to be intense. The final issue, illustrated by Jesus Saizis titled The death of carnage? and will put Eddie at a definitive crossroads: pay a high price to eliminate the symbiote once and for all. In the storyline, Brock faces a former host of the symbiote, who he remembers from his time as a symbiote. King in blackand that he holds the key to destroying Carnage… albeit at a cost that may be too high even for him.

The official synopsis presents a scenario of horror and moral dilemmas: “She holds the key to killing Carnage, but the price for ridding the world of him is high. Will Eddie be willing to pay it, or will the symbiote live to kill another day?”

The series, launched in early 2025, had become one of Marvel’s most daring experiments: a psychological horror comic in the universe of the symbiotes, far from the classic superhero tone of Poison. Despite good reviews for its adult approach and exploration of Eddie Brock’s mind, The collection will not survive the so-called ‘curse of number ten’as Johnston himself joked Bloody coldreferring to the short lifespan that many current Marvel series are having.

Goodbye… but not definitive

Soule made that clear too His relationship with the symbiotes doesn’t end there. “Is this the end of my time in the Symbiote-verse? It’s not! Every book is a door, and there are more to come. Some projects have already been announced, but I’ll let Marvel’s PR machine handle that,” he commented, with a smile that leaves the door open for a possible return.

Empire of Ash: new horror coming

The first look at this story will be offered in ashkan (a limited edition of 250 numbered copies) during the same New York Comic Con.

Soule describes it as “a horror adventure with apocalyptic overtones” and promises that this small edition will be “an opportunity to arrive more than six months before the official launch”. The author will personally sell copies at his table in the Artist’s Alley (F-39), along with his usual convention partner, Ryan Browne.

Against Eddie Brock: Carnage closing its cycle e Empire of Ash about to see the light, the writer proves it terror is still his favorite terraineven if it changes publisher or symbiont.

Eddie Brock’s legacy

While the ending of this series may disappoint many fans, the truth is this Eddie Brock has survived countless reinventions since the ’90s. From villain to antihero, from father to symbiote god, the character has found his space in recent years, with more introspective stories than ever.

At this stage Soule and Saiz not only opted for a more mature and existential approachbut it also helped consolidate a new line of horror within the Marvel universe, in which the characters love Carnage, Scream or Toxin They find their own identity, closer to horror films than traditional superheroes.

And even as this chapter comes to an end, Marvel doesn’t usually leave its symbiotes alone for long.. With Soule hinting at new projects and events on the horizon, it seems that the red darkness of Carnage has yet to say its final word.
