Batman and Superman will have the same fate as Mickey Mouse

After seeing how Disney lost Mickey Mouse and became a public buyer starting in 2024, news has now come to light that allows us to see some of the DC Comics characters suffer the same fate.

The future of DC comics characters

According to Variety, DC Comics’ control over its heroes and villains will begin to expire in 10 years. Superman and Lois Lane will be in public in 2034, while Batman will follow this path in 2035, then the Joker in 2036, and finally, Wonder Woman in 2037.

These characters are entering the public domain almost a century after their comic book debuts in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

Comics expert Chris Sims told the media that the expired rights are only for the characters, that is, nothing else related to them can be used. Simms cites the Batman film series as an example, which does not include Robin or other successors from the Batman universe, as these creations are not in the same category as The Dark Knight.

What is clear is that when the rights are over, fans of the DC universe can see all kinds of projects related to their favorite heroes, from horror films to comedies.
