Joseph Quinn has raised fans’ expectations by talking about his preparations to play Johnny Storm in the next MCU Fantastic Four film.

After starring in the fourth season of Stranger Things playing the heroic Eddie Munson, Quinn landed the biggest role of his career as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four.

Quinn’s excitement over a promising script

Promoting A Quiet Place: One Day Quinn was asked about the status of the project and shared his excitement about its launch, highlighting the quality of the script and the talent of the director.

“I really want to start. The script is incredible. The director is fantastic. The intention behind this is… let’s go for it,” he said.

In a separate interview, Quinn stated that sometimes spoilers are asked, but those close to him already know that he does not give details. He commented that he was frequently asked if the cat would survive the first day.

Quinn joins an impressive cast that includes Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, The Last of Us) as Reed Richard, aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Counting Dead) as Sue Storm, Invisible Woman and Ebon Moss. Bacharach (The Hired, Bear) as Ben Grimm, better known as The Thing.

Additionally, it was announced that Julia Garner (Ozark) will play a female version of the Silver Surfer named Shala-Bal.

A new universe for Fantastic Four?

Although plot details remain a secret, recent rumors suggest that Fantastic Four will be set in an alternate universe. If true, this would indicate that the characters will be mutants from another part of the multiverse and eventually enter the main MCU timeline, possibly due to Dar-Ben’s interlude at the end of Marvels.

Galactus has been confirmed as the main villain, and will be played by Ralph Ineson (The Wizard, Game of Thrones).

There are no more origin stories

Kevin Feige has confirmed that this film will not be another origin story for the super-team.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” We set a very high bar for ourselves to bring that to the screen.

However, the new creative team’s fresh, bold approach and Quinn’s natural personality promises to revitalize the character for a new generation of viewers. With a rich story and an iconic villain like Galactus, the film has all the ingredients to be a success.

Date of production and release

Production is scheduled to begin this summer, with the film slated for a July 25, 2025 release.
