After some pretty good early box office projections for Joker 2, predictions are changing as the film’s premiere approaches.
Apparently, Joker: Folie à Deux’s domestic box office opening weekend will be lower than the first film’s.
Will Joker 2 be profitable with its high budget?
Deadline reported the film’s box office projections a few days ago Author: Todd Phillips show that it would raise more than $70 million at its debut. While these figures may not sound bad in theory, the truth is that this would be $26 million less than what was raised by Joker in 2019, that is 96.2 million. However, Matthew Belloni from the center Disc reached out to X to share the new projections, which indicate that Joker 2’s box office forecast dropped from last week’s $70 million to $68 million.
The new figures are worrying, as this sequel is said to have cost $200 million, much more than the first part’s $55 million budget.
The Joker sequel will be released in theaters on October 4.
