With all the rumors surrounding Avengers: Secret Wars, Jeremy Renner has raised fans’ hopes with his announcement about returning as Hawkeye in the film.
“Hawkeye” star Jeremy Renner has discussed the possibility of reuniting with the original six Avengers in a future MCU project and revealed that he asked to kill Clint Barton.
Rumors that may be true
The multiverse saga failed to connect with audiences in the way Marvel Studios had hoped. We’re not surprised to learn that Kevin Feige is considering reuniting the original six Avengers. The Infinity Saga is built around Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and the Hulk. While some of them could definitely be variables, that team is a surefire way to draw people to theaters for the next Avengers movies.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz, Renner was asked about the idea of bringing the team back together.
“Perhaps if enough time has passed, right? I think it’s a moment, but then again, what’s the point of the narrative and the story?” the actor asked himself. “These are beloved characters. We’ve done 23 movies together in total. What’s the reason? What’s the story? Is there more to it? How is this resolved?”
Renner continued to ponder: “When does it feel like ‘everybody gets a little bit of a happy ending, nobody dies, it feels good’?” What’s going on here? I have a feeling about it. I think we all have. I think the dead feel about it too.
The Avengers in Secret Wars
Renner seems to know more than he’s letting on. While he believes there must be a good reason to reunite the original version of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, he’s clearly open to the idea of reuniting with them.
Horowitz asks Clint Barton if he asked him to be killed and why we haven’t gotten the long-awaited Hawkeye and Black Widow movie.
“No, no, I never asked to be killed,” Renner said. “Like things [una película de equipo] They are always fun and interesting. You can attract more people for that alone. A Mr. and Mrs. Smith-type vibe would be fun. What is the idea of reuniting the Avengers? How and why? What is the purpose of this?
Renner and the secrets of “Secret Wars”.
“I don’t know what this is,” he said, explaining that he knew nothing about the film. I always wait, man. I think it will be great. It will be amazing. I would love to be with everyone again.
The interview video reveals a lot of interesting insights, including the hate Renner received for not being the one to die in “Avengers: Endgame” (Black Widow, you may remember, sacrificed herself to save the Archer).
Unfortunately, the actor was not asked about the plans for the second season of “Hawkeye”, although there are rumors that it may be approved soon.
Renner and Legacy as Hawkeye
Barton, better known as Hawkeye, has been a key character in the MCU since his introduction in 2011’s “Thor.” Renner brought this master archer to life, bringing a human aspect to a team full of gods, super soldiers and tricksters. His performance is fundamental to the development of the character, he shows us not only a skilled fighter, but also a family man who fights to secure the future of his loved ones.
Additionally, Hawkeye has always been an integral part of The Avengers despite his lack of supernatural powers. His ability to keep up with heroes like Thor and Iron Man is a testament to his talent and bravery. Through his narrative arc in films like Endgame, we’ve seen Barton experience personal loss and redeem himself as a hero. His story is a reminder that heroism doesn’t always come with superpowers.
Renner raises deep questions about the future of the Avengers and the need for a strong narrative to warrant a reunion. His passion and love for his characters is still palpable to both actors and fans alike. Meanwhile, speculation about the next installment of the Avengers and a possible reunion of the original Avengers awaits everyone.
