Anticipation for the next Superman film, directed by James Gunn, is reaching stratospheric levels. Even though the theatrical release is scheduled for July 2025, fans are already enjoying the first trailer which, since its launch, has not stopped being talked about. However, what recently caught the director’s attention is a LEGO recreation of the trailer, created by talented animator Trevor Carlee.

A work of art in LEGO

Animator Trevor Carlee shared his version of the trailer on YouTube on Christmas Day, accompanying it with an enthusiastic message: “The moment I saw the trailer, I ran to the computer! Ha ha. I love Superman! “I’m very excited about this film.”

The recreation soon went viral, so much so that even James Gunn highlighted it on his social networks. On his X account (formerly Twitter), the director commented: “Merry Christmas to all! Your gift will be ready in July. Gunn’s gesture touched not only Carlee, but also fans who see these types of interactions as an example of the director’s commitment to the community.

The choice of David Corenswet as the new Superman generated curiosity and enthusiasm. Despite the initial controversy over the change of actor, leaving Henry Cavill behind, Corenswet seems to have gained ground among the hero’s followers. In addition to his portrayal of Clark Kent, the trailer gives us a look at an elite cast, including Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific And Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.

Superman: Legacy and James Gunn’s approach

In recent statements, Gunn explained his vision behind the film and his decision to begin the trailer with a vulnerable Superman. “This film is not about power” stated in an interview with Vanity Fair. “In a broad sense, it’s about a human being going about their daily life. I wanted to show that aspect at the beginning of the trailer and the film. It seemed like an interesting starting point.”

One detail that has delighted fans is the return of Superman’s iconic suit design, including the red underwear. According to Gunn, this decision was inspired by a comment from Corenswet: “David said, ‘He’s a super-powered alien who doesn’t want kids to be afraid of him.’ That touched me deeply. That’s the essence of it, and that’s where the design of the dress comes from.”

A jewel for enthusiasts

The LEGO version of the trailer is not only a demonstration of creativity, but also proof of the cultural impact of the character. From character movements to blocky special effects, the video captures the essence of the original trailer in a unique way. This reinterpretation served to further amplify the enthusiasm of fans, who are now counting the days until the premiere.

With James Gunn at the helm, this new chapter promises to explore a more human side of Superman, balancing his duties as Earth’s protector and the challenges of being Clark Kent. The first images have already made it clear that we will see action, emotion and a new focus on the characters surrounding the Man of Steel.
