Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian, has shared her perspective on her character’s potential leadership.
Since his debut in the hit ‘Star Wars’ series, the apparent mission of Bo-Katan it has been to take back Mandalore and establish a safe home for its people. But her final move in ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3 episode 3 makes it clear that she no longer wants to be the leader of her people. Those wishes were left behind.
Sackhoff, the character’s interpreter on the series, shared her thoughts on why her character no longer wants to lead the Mandalorians. In an interview with Weekly entertainmentstated Sackhoff that she believes her character no longer wants to be the leader of Mandalore.
Sackhoff:
“She doesn’t want the responsibility. Responsibility has cost him everything… He failed to lead, so maybe it fit in.”
Will Bo-Katan finally be the leader of the Mandalorians?
Before the premiere of season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’, there was uncertainty about who would lead the people of Mandalore. Some believed she would take over, while others pointed to Djarin as the natural leader.
However, Djarin claims the Darksaber, hindering his path to leadership and perhaps another reason to give up. However, the actress has suggested that her character is willing to give up being a leader or compete with Mando to be one.
Are you doing it to be a bad Mandalorian? Does turning your back on your people make you a bad representative of your people and culture? Does giving up like that make her a worse Mandalorian? We will have to see that throughout the series, but of course it will be judged by the other characters and by the viewers.
Relinquishing leadership begs the question: who will lead Mandalore?
It is more than possible for the character to decide to be a follower instead of a leader. After all, Mando is the main character of the series.
Furthermore, the introduction of a living mythosaur in episode 2 seems to indicate that the Mandalorians already need a leader to face the challenges that await them as a people. What is clear is that he needs a leader, and the series ends by showing us who takes such honor or curse. Who will it be?
