The following contains spoilers to Stick Season 1, episode 6, “RV Shangri-La”, now streaming on Apple TV +.
Apple TV + comedy Stick is full of comforting moments, including dynamic development between the best friends in Pryce and Santa Elena’s mother. During the season, the public saw the characters play each other and, finally, get closer. It was easy to fall in love with them and root them so that they fall in love with each other.
In an interview with CBR, the actors Mariana Treviño (who play Elena) and Marc Maron (who represent the Mittes) spoke of the chemistry between their characters. They also talked about what they like the most in the successful series. In addition, discover if one of them learned something about the golf course of their television experience.
CBR: There are so many different things to love Stick and his characters. What attracted you to the show, or that stood out while you did it?
Mariana Treviño: This superb casting for me. I was blown away when I knew what kind of project it was. Writing was the first thing that attracted me. This is the first contact I had in the hearing, and I just thought it was so good. It was just a scene, but it was the entry of the entire project.
And of course after, to work with all these actors – With Owen [Wilson]that I deeply admire, and it was just such a fascinating to see him work. He was really nice to all of us, and he was so emotionally engaging. So where I am like dream work.
Marc Maron: To play a character alongside the character of Owen, where you have guys who wear a lot of emotional burden – to pass through this in a fun way, in a funny story, with a great kind of concentration in terms of where the story goes and the other characters … I just thought that it had a lot of emotional nuances and catharsis, and I thought it was interesting.
In this way, Stick Recalls the work you have done on the cult hit of Netflix SHINEwhich was obviously a different sport but also a kind of founded family. Marc, is this experience for the way you addressed mittens here?

Maron: Work with large overall casts and develop relationships with different characters … there was more on SHINEBut I think there is a kind of space that you need to give to everyone with whom you work, and you have to act in relation to many different people. And there is this family element.
Everything that brings me to work with a lot of people is probably good for me, in terms of better ability to do it in the future. And they were both grumpy, but I think Sam on Glow was a little more self-central and less aware of self.
The public can see Elena and the mittens get closer as the story takes place. How much pleasure was it to play their relationship because it changed and flourished?
Maron: It is quite frightening when it is hard. [Laughs.] So for me to finally soften in a way, and so that we somehow have these moments when we are both melting our guard – it happened quite naturally. As we got to the point of the script where it really starts to sparking, everything was going as it was supposed to do.
Treviño: Exactly.
One thing that stands out Stick is that people do not have to love or know the golf course to take advantage of it. It is accessible to everyone. To what extent did you take sport during the season?

Maron: I know more than before. I’m not sure I can go out with a golf bag and know how to play the game, but I know how to hit a ball. I know roughly how it is marked, but it is always a kind of mystery for me. But I appreciated it, certainly.
Treviño: [I had] An interest in playing it. I haven’t played much, but seeing him play by [co-star] Rock [Dager]who always played him on the screen and off screen, and just by developing this, I somehow obtained [to thinking] Like, I should try it. It is a sport where you get out of it and you observe how you strategy, how you think, and I think we should all try it, at least – even if we are frustrated most of the time.
