After the massive success that was Sam Raimi Spider Trilogy, Sony tripped on his own success and had trouble bringing the wall robot to the big screen. It was not until five years later that Sony would take another swing to bring Spider-Man back on the big screen with 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man. Seeing Andrew Garfield Playing the role of the emblematic Marvel heroes, the newly relaunched property did well enough to win a suite in 2014 The Amazing Spider-Man 2Where things started getting out of the rails quickly.
Trying to catch up with the successful power plant that Marvel Studios had become, Sony desperately wanted to keep the rights to Spider-Man and create his own cinematographic universe to compete with the MCU. This made the intrigue already mixed in the first film has become even more chaotic when the company has tried to set up many things to shoot in separate films at the cost of the film they already made. Although the film ultimately did not reach its noble objectives, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has always succeeded in presenting several classic bad guys from Spider-Man on the big screen.

All the incredible bad guys of Spider-Man were not emblematic
I probably had no idea that BJ Novak was actually a bad comic strips
Among the different bad guys introduced into the film, some of them were much more subtle than others. Fans will remember the introduction of Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon, but most may not remember his boss, Alistair Smythe, played by BJ Novak. As head of the Oscorps engineering department, Smythe took advantage of Dillon and was the one who made him stay after work at the night he had his accident and turned into electro.
While a very minor character in the film, Alistair Smythe is a villain of the Spider-Man comics, while being a minor.
Appearing for the first time in the 1985s Amazing Spider-Man Annual # 19 (by Louise Simonson, Mary Wilshire, Pat Redding, Bob Sharen and Janice Chiang), Smythe is the son of a robotics expert who hated Spider-Man and created Spider-Slayer robots to destroy the wall robot.
A very minor character in comics too, some real believers can remember him from the 90s Spider Animated series. He was in a good place in the work alongside Kingpin in many episodes and later became a cyborg himself in the episode “The Ultimate Slayer”.

Spider-Man’s arc-enetic has been removed
The original green goblin has never had the chance to fly
While the film centered Harry Osborn in the role of Green Goblin, Norman Osborn has always been brought into the fold to pass the torch to his son. This unfortunate version of Norman, played by Chris Cooper, did not have the chance to take the glider, but he has always turned out to be one of the greatest enemies of Spider-Man.
Norman has become a bad guy from Peter The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He hired them, with Curt Conners / The Lizard of The Amazing Spider-ManTo develop a remedy against its mysterious degenerative disease.
Although hard in the film, having Norman being the one behind the death of Peter’s parents was an interesting turn on the character who could have been a very interesting concept if he was expanded.
While the director Marc Webb intended to include Norman in the future of Sony Spider-Man payments, the commercial flop of the film prevented these ideas from being made. This massive turn finally lands flat, not being a further part.
This also leaves Norman’s inclusion in the film an unworthy page note in the catalog of the characters. The deleted scenes included more Norman Osborn because it was revealed that his head had survived, which could have led to a more important role as bad in the third canceled film.

Felicia Hardy was nothing like her comic stripping counterpart
The black cat has exchanged jewelry for meetings of the board of directors
In another flashing and you will miss them, Felicia Hardy, better known as emblematic black cat, was also presented in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. However, she played a radically different role. This version of the character, played by Felicity Jones, was an assistant to Norman Osborn and then Harry after his death instead of a notorious thief.
Hardy plays a very minor role in the film without any indication of his entry into the role of Black Cat.
Without Harry asking him for his name in the Oscorp meeting room, there would be no way to know that the character of Jones is supposed to be the same Felicia Hardy of the comics. The only similarity is that it has a black suit.
Apart from that, she is just a normal assistant wishing to do shaded things to help her boss. While some Hardy scenes have been left on the floor of the cutting room and later released with the DVD, the two additional scenes do nothing to expand his character or refer him to become the black cat.

The mysterious gentleman went nowhere
Another spider-man villain was wasted
Throughout the two Amazing Spider-Man Films, a mysterious character known as the Gentleman, turned out to be the one who draws all the strings behind the misfortunes of Peter. Not only appearing a few times in the film, The Gentleman has been set up as the Main Secret Méchant of Garfield Spider-Man, but has nothing ended.
Although he never gets his great revelation, the public learns that the mysterious figure is the one who killed Peter’s parents in the name of Osborn.
However, his plans for the now adulthized stone have never been explained. The gentleman is supposed to be Gustav proud of the comic strips of Spider-Man, a rich lord of the underground crime who roted Pierre’s parents with a red skull and caused their death.
Gustav came later after Peter once he became Spider-Man and formed a new version of the Sinister Six alongside Doctor Octopus, Electro, Mysterio, Chameleon and The Vulture. The gentleman was set up to play a role similar to what he did in the comics. However, the cancellation of the first Sony Spider-Man universe led to the fact that the character was going nowhere and his configuration in the films being another unnecessary intrigue in the film in the hope of creating a franchise.

The rhinoceros was another interesting reinvention
Paul Giamatti deserved more from the franchise
Yet another villain piled up in The Amazing Spider-Man 2Paul Giamatti has portrayed Aleksei Sytsevich, a criminal who becomes the shielding villain known as Rhino. The film actually presented the character before becoming the villain on the theme of animals. Sytsevich is stopped by Spider-Man at the very beginning of the film when he tries to steal an oscorp van full of plutonium.
Sytsevich is immediately arrested and only returns to the end of the film with a giant rhinoceros armor costume which was given to him by the gentleman.
A classic spider-man villain associated with an incredible actor seemed to be a safe success, but even Giamatti could not relaunch a character who has never had the chance to live. Not only his return as a disappointing Rhino, but all his vendetta against Spider-Man does not really connect.
Sytsevich only met Spider-Man once at the start of the film. Although it is embarrassed by the unique humor style of Spider-Man, it still does not sell. His exclusion from most of the film is only aggravated by the exaggerated design of his rhino costume, which looks more like a reservoir of armor and hardly resembles a rhino.

The group of emblematic bad guys of Spider-Man died before their arrival
Despite the incredible Spider-Man 2 which has already set up many bad guys, which did not prevent Sony from trying to pack a few others to put people in the theater for their next episode. In the last part of the film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 tries to slowly introduce its version of the Sinister Six. The gentleman walks in a corridor, passing the wings of the vulture and the mechanical arms of the doctor. He also passes the armor of Rhino, which is given to the character of Giamatti in the last scene of the film.
While THE Amazing Spider-Man 2 Stolen too close to the Super-Villain sun, the group of bad guys Spidey could potentially have brought the franchise in a clearer direction.
It is obvious that the Sinister Six was the master plan of Sony for their first Spider-Man universe, but poor management and too much ambition killed the dream before it could take off. Given the large number of bad guys already in this film, it would be difficult to follow another film wrapped in the brim with emblematic villains and to give each of them the appropriate configuration they deserved.
While the public will never know what Sinister Six of Amazing Spider-Man had in reserve for the Wall robot, the history of Sony with the gallery of Spider-Man’s thugs did not inspire much confidence that it would have been enough to change anything.

Harry Osborn’s green goblin was weird
Dane Dehaan has fully committed to the crazy bad guy
Son of Norman Osborn and Peter’s best friend, Harry Osborn became the emblematic Goblin Green after learning that he was suffering from the same degenerative disease that killed his father. After Peter, as himself and Spider-Man, refused to give Harry his blood to develop a remedy, Osborn burst into the laboratory of his own business. He injected himself with a modified spider venom which only accelerated his condition. He then used a prototype flight combination to stabilize his condition, which further transferred his appearance and destroyed the last remaining parts of his mental health.
The goblin then takes revenge on Spider-Man by throwing Gwen Stacy from a clock tower, which led to his death when Peter fails to stop him in the fall.
Although in the top in design and execution, commitment to the role of Dane Dehaan made a really memorable and demented green goblin. Making your illness transforming it into a literal goblin with sharp teeth and fangs is an interesting choice, but that has revealed Dehaan’s green goblin on the screen like the villain.
End of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Strongly makes him involve him in the future iteration of the six claims. It would have given The Amazing Spider-ManGreen Goblin is a little more development. However, the character has never had the opportunity to achieve his full potential.

Jamie Foxx’s electro was the only villain with depth
There is a reason why Electro is the only villain in the film that was brought back to the MCU
With almost all the characters of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 tease a comic villain, The only one who really deserved his place as a villain in the film was Jamie Foxx’s electro. Max Dillon was an electrician engineer solitary oscorp who thought that his life had no meaning until he was saved by Spider-Man. He started to idolize the wall robot and said he was his only friend.
When she is forced to stay behind on the day of his birthday, Dillon fell into a reservoir of genetically modified eels, transforming it into the bad electro.
While featuring a design above the top, the representation of Jamie Foxx as Electro is the only villain in the film to have a real emotional weight or a convincing scenario which places it against Spider-Man. Foxx depicts Max at the start of the film as a strange pariah but good heart which can not help wanting to take advantage.
This sympathy for the character made of his turn against Spider-Man a heartbreaking, as Dillon finally feels noticed, even if he is a villain. In a film trying to bring together so many different elements and characters, Electro by Jamie Foxx was able to cut above the noise and provide a big bad guy to Garfield Spider-Man.
