At the recent Deadpool and Wolverine event in Shanghai, China, Reynolds Jackman shared how greenlighting Deadpool 3 was key. “I met Kevin Feige six years ago and the first thing I said was to put Wolverine and Deadpool together on screen. Kevin said, ‘Forget it. It’s never going to happen.’ So Shawn and I kept going through different ideas and thoughts, but nothing was working.

Reynolds and Levy were about to leave, but an unexpected call came from Jackman. “We were on our last try. I was going to say to Kevin Feige, ‘I think we’re going to leave for a while and come back later, maybe in a couple of years, when we have a better idea of things.’ And just then Hugh called me.”

Reynolds continued: “Sean and I turned our attention to Kevin in the middle of the presentation and said, ‘Look, this just happened. It seems like a miracle. Reynolds had already written 18 different treatments for Deadpool 3, and even after Jackman joined the project, Feige “wasn’t sure how to incorporate Deadpool.” Some of the ideas are so diverse that they range from a Sundance-style film with a budget of less than $10 million to a large-scale production.

“It was literally a $5 or $6 million budget, no special effects. It was just a road trip with a lot of dialogue between Wolverine and Deadpool,” Reynolds said. “It was not meant to be an event film. If we were going to point C, we were only meant to get to point B. That’s amazing. i liked I thought it was really interesting.
The third Deadpool movie went through a grueling process getting into production. But, thanks to the tenacity of Reynolds, Vee and Jackman’s incredible intervention, the movie will work and we’ll all be able to enjoy it on the big screen on July 26.
