House of the Dragon Showrunner Explains Why Season 2 Didn’t End With a Big Battle

Many fans of House of the Dragon have complained about the lack of action in its second season, and now the showrunner of the series has addressed this issue.

The showrunner of House of the Dragon, Ryan Condal, explains why the season 2 finale didn’t end with the Battle of the Gorge.

Lack of action in season 2

During a virtual question and answer session with the press, IGN took the opportunity to ask Condal why season 2 didn’t end with the Battle of the Gorge. Among the showrunner’s reasons is the enormous amount of resources needed to adapt that historical moment. Below we share everything he had to say on the subject.

“One of the challenges of making television at any scale, even at this scale, which seems like you have infinite time and resources, is that no one has infinite time and resources. As a showrunner, you’re always in a position of having to balance the storytelling and the resources you have to tell it, and you also start to think about what the end point of this show is and where we’re going. ? And I think it was a combination of factors that led us to rebalance the story, knowing where we’re going and where the end point is, to rebalance the story so that we have three more great seasons to complete and tell this story.

“That event[the Battle of the Gorge]is going to happen very soon in terms of the Dragon House narrative. And it should be, based on what we know now, the biggest thing we’ve done to date. And we just wanted to have the time and space to do it on a level that would excite and satisfy the fans in the way that it deserves. And we also wanted to build some anticipation around it.”

While Condal has valid reasons, we must also understand the fans of this universe, they wanted to see that historic moment, and now they will have to wait another two years when the third season of the dragon’s house.
