Warner Bros. officially relaunches the Gremlins franchise after decades on the shelves, with a new installment scheduled for release on November 19, 2027.
By The Hollywood Reporter, the news was announced by David Zaslav, head of Warner Bros. Discovery, during the company’s third quarter earnings conference call. Zaslav confirmed that Steven Spielberg would return as executive producer through his company Amblin Entertainment, while Chris Columbus, who wrote the original 1984 film, is set to produce and direct the new film.
The original 1984 Gremlinsdirected by Joe Dante, introduced audiences to the adorable but unpredictable Mogwai named Gizmo whose simple rules of care, no bright lights, no water, and no food after midnight, were inevitably broken, unleashing chaos in a small suburban town. The film became an instant hit, for its dark comedy and creature horror.
Its success spawned a sequel, Gremlins 2: the new batchreleased in theaters in 1990.
Gremlins 3 will be released in theaters worldwide on November 19, 2027.
