Headland and Stenberg’s comments did not end there. They continued to poke fun at gay themes in the Star Wars universe, such as the long-running theory that C-3PO and R2-D2 were romantically involved. Headland jokingly commented, “You’re telling me straight-faced C-3PO is straight?” R2-D2 reveals that it is now “canon” that he is a lesbian. Of course, all this is said in jest and should not be taken seriously.
The series did not feature gay characters in its first episodes, despite being considered “woke” by some on social media. And even if that is the case, it shouldn’t be a problem.
