Eric Kripke looms over apocalypse as The Boys ends

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke promises no character will be safe in series’ emotional conclusion

The Boys’ future looks darker than ever. Eric Kripkethe showrunner of the hit Prime Video series, has clarified that in the fifth and final season, no character will be safe. The revelation comes just two weeks after the conclusion of the penultimate season, which consisted of eight episodes filled with tension and drama.

There are no guarantees of survival

Talking with GamesRadar+Kripke teased what fans can expect from the grand finale of The boys. In his words, it will be a “super big” and “apocalyptic” season, full of unexpected twists. “The fun thing about the last season is that you can kill any character,” Kripke said. “There’s no guarantee who’s going to survive because you’re not obligated to keep them [al elenco] for another season. So really shocking and big things can happen at any time. The writers, as we start to set it up, are really enjoying it.

Kripke also talked about the pressure to deliver a satisfying ending for the series, knowing that a lot of good series have failed in that regard. “A lot of series finales suck. “It’s very hard to land the plane,” he continued. “I’m very grateful to Amazon for giving me the opportunity to finish it on our own terms, but I feel a lot, a lot of pressure to finish it well. Because if we land it, people are going to say, ‘That was a great show.’ But if we screw up, people are going to say, ‘That was a good show, but then they screwed up.’ For the legacy of the show, I really want to land the plane. It’s hard to land the plane! “I feel an incredible amount of pressure.”
