With this new deal between Dwayne Johnson and Disney, his appearance in the MCU may be closer than we think.

The entertainment world has been rocked by the news that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has signed a multi-year deal with Disney to pursue his role as Black Adam in the DC Universe. Will this be the first step towards seeing him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)?

Collaboration with all Disney departments

After trying to change the power hierarchy in the DC universe as Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson decided to join Disney. According to Variety , Johnson and Danny Garcia’s production company, Seven Books Productions, has signed a first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company to produce films for both theaters and streaming.

Although no specific title has been mentioned, the projects are said to be potential star vehicles for Johnson. Most impressively, this multi-year deal allows Seven Bucks to collaborate across all Disney divisions, including Marvel Studios, Star Wars/Lucasfilm, Disney Animation, Pixar and 20th Century Studios.

Dwayne Johnson and his history with Disney

Johnson is no stranger to Disney. He’s starred in projects like Jungle Cruise and Moana (he’s expected to reprise his role as Maui in this year’s sequel and 2026’s live-action remake). This new deal could see the former WWE Champion jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A recent rumor claimed that Johnson was being considered to play a new version of X-Men villain Apocalypse. Although it didn’t get much attention at the time, this announcement could give more credibility to that report.

The new Moana on the way

Meanwhile, Johnson continues to expand his relationship with Disney. The new Moana movie, which hits theaters on July 10, 2026, is directed by Thomas Keil, best known for his work on Hamilton and Grace Live. Commenting on the shoot, Kyle said: “I’m happy to have met Kathryn, Rena, Frankie and John through this process. I’m honored by this opportunity and can’t wait to have it all together. And there’s no better couple in a canoe than Kathryn and Dwayne—three, in fact: hehem ready!”

The new Moana brings the story of a young girl who wants to make her own way to life in a whole new way. Celebrating the Pacific Islands, communities and traditions in an epic adventure, the production begins filming this summer. The new film is produced by Johnson, Danny Garcia and Hiram Garcia at Seven Bucks Productions and FlynnPictureCo’s Beau Flyn.

Producers who already know the story

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the original songs, also performs. Executive producers are FlynnPictureCo. They include Scott Sheldon, Ali Cravalho, Moana in the 2016 film, and Charles Newth. Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller have been cast for the project.

Bush, a veteran of Disney animation, wrote the script for Moana in 2011.

With this exciting deal, it looks like Dwayne Johnson is all set to make an even bigger mark in the entertainment world, and fans are eager to see what surprises he brings to the screen. Will it be your next big adventure in the MCU? Only time will tell.
