Dumbledore and Petunia Dursley had a brief story in the books of Harry Potter (which the films have left out)

It is important to remember the controversial declarations during the creator of the Harry Potter franchise. CBR supports the hard work of industry professionals on the properties that fans know and love and the wider world of Harry Potter that fans have adopted as theirs. Harry Potter is one of the most famous and appreciated fantastic sagas. Books and films have presented the public everywhere to many different characters who have become extremely popular, dividing or despised. Many of these characters had complex stories and long stories that connect them with other characters, which makes the wizarding world of Harry Potter come to life. However, many of these stories and the story shared between many of these characters who were in books, were excluded from cinematographic adaptations. And this was the case with the brief history between Albus Dumbledore and Petunia Dursley.

A unique and improbable twinning, Dumbledore and Petunia knew each other long before Harry was born. Or at least, they knew each other. A lot Harry Potter Fans probably believe that the first time that Dumbledore and Petunia have interacted was when Dumbledore left Harry at the Dursley door, with a letter explaining what had happened. However, it was not the first time that Dumbledore and Petunia corresponded to each other, something Harry Potter Films left aside.

Petunia also wanted to go to Hogwarts

This rejection deepened his resentment to Lily

While many fans believe that Petunia Dursley hated everything about the world of wizards, her feelings about this were much more complex than that. Coming from a Muggle family, Petunia and Lily did not know the magic or the world of secret wizards. But that changed when Lily received his Hogwarts acceptance letter. Lily had already started to display magical capacities, strange events that neither she nor her family could explain. But once Lily met Severus Snape, who lived nearby, she learned the world of the wizards and impatiently expected her Hogwarts letter. However, Petunia was not as delighted with the future of Lily.

Most Harry Potter fans do not know that these major things happen to the Dursley in books

Since Harry Potter’s latest films have left the Dursley, many fans have not known some key moments of books.

Petunia was Lily’s older sister. And even if they were not the best friends, their relationship was not entirely sour until Lily displayed his magic capacities. This is something that has tense the relationship between the sisters. And according to the way Petunia spoke of Lily and the reactions of their parents to Lily’s magic capacities, it is easy to see that Petunia has resentment towards her sister. She was jealous that Lily received so much attention and that she was a witch, but she did not hate the magical world exactly. Not before having received a letter from Dumbledore.

“Stop it!” Petunia howled.

“It doesn’t hurt you,” said Lily, but she closed her hand on the flower and threw her on the ground.

“It’s not fair,” said Petunia, but her eyes had followed the flight from the flower to the ground and lingered there. “How do you do?” She added, and there was a final desire in her voice.

Once Petunia learned that Lily was a witch and discovered the secret magical world who lived just under her nose, she also wanted to be part of it. This is something that many would find surprising after seeing Petunia despise everything about the world of wizards and on the life of her sister. But at one point, she wanted to be like Lily. Petunia sent a letter to Hogwarts to ask if she could also become a student. But joining the magic world and becoming a student at Hogwarts is not as simple as sending a letter asking to be accepted. Only those who were born with magic capacities can attend the sorcerer’s school. And unfortunately, Petunia was not part of it.

Dumbledore himself wrote to Petunia to reject his request

Although it was not Lily’s fault that Petunia could not go to Hogwarts, Petunia has always removed her on her sister. It was only after Dumbledore rejected his Hogwarts request that Petunia became hateful towards her sisterand the sorcerer world. Petunia called Lily a monster, something that injured Lily, as she cared and looked up at her big sister. Before that, Petunia had even been curious about Lily and magical powers’ abilities. But after being rejected from the world of Lily, Petunia built a wall to protect herself, which finally cost her her relationship with her sister.

“You didn’t think it was a Freak school when you wrote to the director and begged her to take you.”

Lily got closer to Severus Snape at the time, linking their shared magic capacities. It only made Petunia even more jealous, feeling that she was losing her sister in a world to which she did not belong. Petunia also hated Severus for her clothes and her external appearance, judging him without giving him a chance. But what sealed the agreement for Petunia was to learn that Severus read him of Dumbledore’s letter. In Harry Potter and the death relics, Harry sees scenes from Lily and Petunia as children through the memories of Snape.

“You shouldn’t have read -” Chuchota Petunia, “It was my private -how can you …?”

Lily moved away by sliding halfway to the place where Snape was standing nearby. Petunia Haleta.

“This boy found him!” You and this boy get in my room!

In one of Snape’s memories, Harry sees Lily, his mother, as a young eleven year old child about to get on the Hogwarts Express for the first time. Petunia and the rest of Lily’s family were also there, and Snape witnesses an argument between the brothers and sisters. It was then that Petunia called Lily a monster for the first time, with resentment that she cannot go to Hogwarts with her sister. Couple of the insult, Lily reveals that she knows Dumbledore’s letter. She knows that Petunia asked to be accepted in Hogwarts and that Dumbledore rejected her. Lily also reveals that it was Snape’s idea and that he was curious to know the letter, because he did not know why the director of Hogwarts corresponded to a muggle.

Dumbledore wrote to Petunia at least twice more after that

One of these times was the letter he left with Bébé Harry

Once Lily began to attend Hogwarts, the relationship between the two brothers and sisters broke completely. They have moved away from each other, with the resentment and jealousy of Petunia fueling her hatred towards the wizarding world, and everyone and everyone who is linked to it. The meeting and marriage of Vernon Dursley probably distant Petunia from his sister, because Vernon also hated everything that could be considered “out of the ordinary”. And while Dumbledore and Petunia never stayed in touch after that, he wrote a letter to him when he left Harry at the door of the Dursley.

10 things that only Harry Potter book readers know Dumbledore

Dumbledore is one of Harry Potter’s most important characters, but there are parts of his story that are only shown in books.

While the cinematographic version of Harry Potter and the sorcerer stone shows the letter addressed to Vernon and Petunia, it was subsequently specified that the letter was sent to Petunia alone. And although the content of this letter is not detailed in the Harry Potter Books or films, it is easy to speculate on at least part of its content. In his letter, Dumbledore probably explained what had happened to Lily and James, and perhaps even to have spoken to Petunia of the prophecy who sealed the fate of Harry and Voldemort. He also told her how Harry had survived and how to accept Harry in their house would seal Lily’s protection until the age of 17. And it is also possible that Dumbledore also called on the forgotten desire of Petunia to be part of the world of wizards.

Petunia’s interest in the world of wizards could have influenced her decision to help Harry

Many fans question and speculate about the reasons why the Dursley have already agreed to take care of Harry in the first place. Most agree that they did it because it was the “good thing” to do, the “appropriate and expected thing” of them. The Dursley are nothing but appropriate and respectable, so it is logical that they take Harry simply because it would make them seem bad if they did not do it. But it is also possible that Dumbledore’s letter reminded Petunia what it once wanted: to be part of the world of wizards.

An unlikely family has played an important role in the world of wizards for centuries

There are many families in the world of wizards who wear a large inheritance, but a forgotten family can be the most important.

In a way, taking Harry would have a part of Petunia in the magical world, and an important part to that. She would be responsible for “the boy who lived”, the boy intended to put an end to one of the darkest wizards of all time. It is also possible that Dumbledore’s letter has revived Petunia’s feelings for her sister after keeping them bottled for so long. And a moment in the Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix The book has shown that Petunia always seemed to worry about Lily, Harry and the Wizard.

Dumbledore also sent a howler to Petunia once

It was then that the Dursley almost expelled Harry

During the summer before the fifth year of Harry at Hogwarts, Harry and Dudley underwent an attack on a deaction in Little Whinging. Harry had to use the charm patronus to save his life and his cousin, which made Harry were almost expelled from Hogwarts. The attack also had a strong effect on Dudley, and once Harry explained what had happened, Petunia remembered what Snape had once talked about Lily de Dementors. She also seemed honestly worried and frightened to know that Voldemort had returned. But Vernon did not understand, nor do not care about the danger that Harry was and decided to launch Harry to ensure the security of his family.

Harry rushed forward to take the letter, but Aunt Petunia beat him.

“You can open it if you wish,” said Harry, “but I will hear what he says anyway. He is a howler.

“Let go, Petunia!” Rumait Uncle Vernon. “Don’t touch it, it could be dangerous!”

“It is addressed to me,” said Aunt Petunia in a trembling voice. “It is addressed to MeVernon, look! Ms. Petunia Dursley, La Cuisine, Number four, Privet Drive – “

At that moment, a howler arrived at the Dursley. Harry believed it was for him, but he was shocked when he realized that the howler addressed Petunia. Petunia seemed to be both fear and protective of the howler, refusing to let someone else open it, almost proud that the letter was sent to him. The howler simply said “remember my last”, and Harry later discovered that it was Dumbledore himself who had sent the howler to Petunia. Dumbledore believed that Petunia needed a reminder of his last letter, where he not only explained what had happened, but what Petunia accepted when he took Harry. Dumbledore’s howler was sufficient to make Petunia go against her husband, punting her foot and allowing Harry to stay at home.

“Petunia, my dear?” Said uncle Vernon timidly. “P-Petunia?”

She looked up. She was still shaking. She swallowed.

“The boy – the boy will have to stay, Vernon,” she said weakly.

Harry Potter restarting must break 1 frustrating film trend

Harry Potter’s films have captured the life of the Golden Trio, but missed one of the most important parts of their schooling.

The brief but interesting story of Petunia and Dumbledore adds more context to the character and personality of Petunia. While the Harry Potter The films depict Petunia’s hatred for the wizarding world and for the path of her sister in life, they do not show jealousy, the resentment of Petunia and the crushed dreams of also being part of the world of wizards. Hopefully the next restart of HBO Max of Harry Potter Will be able to present more gray areas of Petunia and background which explained some of his actions later.
