Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was the last time we got to see Akira Toriyama’s work on the big screen. Although the film raised some doubts when it was released, especially due to the animation style, the film was a success and showed that despite the passing of the years, Goku and his friends are still in top form. Anime. You have a critique here.
As always, Planeta Comic now brings us the film adaptation in comic form.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Manga
One of Goku’s greatest enemies as a child, the Red Ribbon Army comes thanks to Commander Red Boy, who wants to recreate the former Red Ribbon Army and conquer the world. To do this, Magenta, the former commander’s son, hires Dr. Gero’s grandson, Dr. Hedon, an android specialist. Tricking Hedon into believing that the Z Warriors are villains, he creates Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, the most powerful androids ever produced.
This all happens while Goku and Vegeta are training with Broly on Whis and Beerus’ planet. On Earth, Piccolo is training his “granddaughter”, Pan, the daughter of Videl and Gohan, who is more focused on work than training, much to the chagrin of her father Piccolo. Namkian was attacked by a surprise android and managed to escape, even though they were more powerful. From there, Piccolo and Gohan must cross their borders again as they try to save Pan from the Red Army.
We already mentioned that this is a film adaptation, because the correct word would be print. Well, this comic is a literal retelling of the movie in comic format. This is something that is already mentioned in the cover of the anime comic, but it is still a shame that the story is not drawn (although this is already being done in the manga). What has been done here is to extract different shots from the film and place them in the film.
Although the choice of shots to follow the story is correct, a lot of dynamism is lost, although attempts have been made to fix this by adding onom and motion lines, but much has failed. The originality of the images also means that details are often lost, as the vignettes are quite small, perhaps crowding the story into an easy-to-read format, and there are also motion frames that look a bit blurry on paper. . The translation of the work is done with very good quality.
Undoubtedly, this Dragon Ball Super is a comic designed for the most serious fans, who are interested in this film adaptation on paper for fun or collection. Obviously, the strong point of this story, the 3D animation is gone, but the comic is still an equally valid format to learn about the events of the movie without having seen the movie.
