Since 2009 Dragon Age: Origins, THE Dragon Age The series has become one of developer BioWare’s most successful role-playing franchises. The games deal with both ancient magic and political unrest, which constantly threaten to tear the fantasy world of Thedas apart. With iconic supporting characters and a rich world to explore, Dragon Age has captured the hearts and minds of RPG fans across three installments.
The last game in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition, was released in 2014. As a successful franchise that is over a decade old, many fans have a clear idea of what they want to see in Dragon Age 4. After a decade of waiting, The veil keeper is finally set for release on October 31, 2024. For any gamer not interested in “Halloween,” this is shaping up to be a very exciting Halloween. From returning certain features to introducing entirely new features, BioWare has plenty of options to create its next epic adventure.

It started with the world’s shortest trailer years ago, and now the release is looking promising. While there is a decent amount of information surrounding the game, there is still a lot more that won’t be seen until its release. This article has been updated to include more information about The Veilguard and to bring it up to current CBR formatting standards.

One of the most interesting things about Dragon Age: Origins was the Origins system, which made the player’s choice of character actually affect the early hours of the game. This meant that a dwarven noble would experience an entirely different starting area and questline than a human mage, city elf, or even a dwarven commoner. Unfortunately, Dragon Age II removed the origins system, instead casting all players as the human noble Hawke. While Dragon Age: Inquisition brought back customizable races, Origins did not.
Bring back the Origins system for Dragon Age 4 would delight fans and greatly increase player immersion in the game world. Giving your character their own story and life before the main adventure begins adds gravitas to the journey. Popular origins from the first game could return, while new ones could be added to fit the new setting and available races. For example, Qunari players could choose between a Vashoth or a true Qunari, while Elf players could potentially come from slavery in Tevinter. While not exactly named as an origin, The veil keeper The game will feature six factions that players can choose from for their character’s story. The factions will serve as the character’s backstory, but will also influence dialogue options.
More specializations can make combat more exciting
More varied classes provide a more immersive experience
Specializations, which serve as more focused versions of typical courses, are present in every Dragon Age game. They allow players to focus on a specific playstyle while giving them access to specialized powers and abilities. For example, a warrior who wants to focus on strength can become a Berserker, unlocking new abilities and attacks. Oddly enough, BioWare recently accidentally revealed a huge spoiler for The veil keeper in their artbook in an excerpt for the Warrior class. Origins had twelve specializations in total, with six more added in the Awakening extension, but the number was reduced to nine in the sequels.
Addition new specializations and the return of fan favorites would greatly increase the variety of character builds in the next game. The Blood Mage and Shapeshifter specializations for Mage characters were particularly interesting in the first game, and they could create some unique gameplay if they returned in The veil keeperThe return of the Arcane Warrior specialization would also be welcome for players who enjoy using magic and weapons in tandem.
Thedas is a vast world and fans want to see more of it
New areas to explore will bring more life to the world
Each Dragon Age The game allowed players to explore a different part of Thedas. Origins took place in Ferelden, Awakening took place in Amaranthine, Dragon Age II was located in the Free Marches and Inquisition took players between Ferelden and Orlais. It is quite normal that Dragon Age 4 will take place in a new location, and as per many fans’ wishes, will take place in Tevinter. From the gameplay reveal trailer, fans know that the game will initially take place in Minrathous, the capital of Tevinter. While there are many more locations that have yet to be confirmed, fans can rejoice in knowing that there are plenty more areas they’ll be able to explore.
Other confirmed locations:
Tevinter has been mentioned frequently throughout the franchise, since Origins, but it was never explored in the game. The end of Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s Intruder The expansion hinted at Tevinter as a setting, with a dagger being plunged into a map of the region. The epilogue also indicated that a war has broken out between the Quanari and the Tevinter Empire, which could serve as a backdrop for the next game. Tevinter’s magical nature makes it an interesting candidate for exploration, as it’s sure to contain strange characters and creatures.
The return of fan favorite characters is a must
Along with Solas, Varric and Scout Harding, fans want to see other players make a return

While each Dragon Age While the title features a different main character, several iconic characters have reappeared throughout the franchise. Following this trend, it seems certain that characters from the past will reappear in Dragon Age 4. Solas, a companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition, is set to play a key role in the future of the franchise. Solas betrayed the player character in Inquisition and was revealed to be the elven god Fen’Harel, known as the Dread Wolf. Fans are now eagerly awaiting a showdown with this former ally, as he has been confirmed to be the main antagonist of The veil keeper.
At least one of the InquisitionCompanions could return as characters in the next game, with some more likely than others. Varric will return, though it seems he’ll likely only be a temporary companion early in the game. Lace Harding, a dwarf encountered in Investigationwill be a playable companion. Dorian is a fan-favorite character who was sent to Tevinter at the end of Intruder expansion, so if the game takes place there, it would make sense for him to return. Cole disappears into the Fade at the end of Intruder, but claims he will return when needed. Cassandra has sworn to fight Solas no matter where he goes, which could easily bring her to Tevinter as an ally.
In addition to the Inquisition companions, it is possible that fans will be able to see their beloved ones Origins‘ characters, like Zevran, especially if there are interactions with the Antivan Crows to be had in The veil keeper. Depending on the choices made during InquisitionIn ‘s quest through the Fade, the Grey Warden version of Alistair Theirin, Warden Straud, or Hawke could also potentially make a return. Flemeth is another staple character who has made an appearance in the previous three Dragon Age games, and given what fans know about what happened to him at the end of InquisitionThere is some hope that more will be learned about his fate beyond the Veil.
No more long and tedious areas
More direct and focused quests improve the flow of the story
First of all, it should be noted that there is no inherent problem with areas that require more time and patience. After all, most games require some form of grinding at some point. It is primarily about the long groundwork that the Hinterlands were doing in Inquisition. Sure, at first, the Hinterlands is a fun and playful place. It’s really the first massive location in Inquisition and is a pretty decent space for players to get comfortable with their combat and groups. The problem is that the Hinterlands starts to feel endless at a certain point. There are so many little quests and things to do that many players end up losing their momentum.
Since the Hinterlands kind of blocks the rest of the game, it’s not nice that players can lose energy. Dragon AgeLike all BioWare games, it relies on the narrative experience of an incredible world filled with incredible characters. As such, these types of games usually have a massive replay value. However, the Hinterlands are something that makes most players roll their eyes. Having a somewhat unpleasant area at the start of the game really limits the number of new games that players want to tackle. Fortunately, in an interview with IGNCorinne Busche (director of The veil keeper) has stated that this game will indeed focus on a more narrative-driven experience. They are moving away from the open-world formula, which will hopefully do wonders for this game.
What Fans Know About The Veilguard
Although information is limited, at least fans finally know when to expect it.
There’s still a lot to discover about this game. In the coming weeks, BioWare will likely reveal a bit more before letting players experience the game when it launches. A few other things are confirmed for this game at this point. One of them is romance. It wouldn’t be a true BioWare game if players couldn’t kiss their favorite characters, so rest assured, that’s still an option. What’s great, though, is that the gender of the player character won’t impact relationships. Many players who played female characters were disappointed that Cassandra wasn’t on the table, and while Cassandra likely won’t be an option, there are plenty of other characters to choose from.
The playable character is called Rook. Players can fully customize him, choosing his gender, faction, and race: human, elf, qunari, or dwarf. The gameplay reveal also showed that this game will no longer use four-player teams, but only three-player teams. This means that players may have to implement more strategy when choosing their companions. It is also clear that this game will introduce new fighting styles to the game. Dragon Age Franchise. While this game strays from the now somewhat hackneyed open-world formula, it leans towards a more mainstream combat system that focuses on timing dodges and parries. However, the combat feels very clean in gameplay, so let’s hope BioWare gets it right.
Role-playing game fans are surely looking forward to the next one Dragon Age and BioWare has begun to fan the flames of that anticipation. With trailers and gameplay released, there’s enough information for fans to start guessing where the next title will take them. By giving players new areas to explore, reuniting them with beloved characters, and bringing back classic mechanics, Dragon Age 4 could be the best game yet. Now, fans can only wait impatiently for the release of this game.
