Following the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, The possibility of a fourth film featuring the Merc with a Mouth has been a hot topic among fans. However, Ryan Reynolds doesn’t believe the antihero will lead another project.
“Deadpool is much more of a supporting character than a main character. [character]” Reynolds said during a Variety actors on actors segment. He went on to explain that the only way to change this is to remove everything from the Merc with a Mouth. “You have to create a situation where he’s really the underdog and I don’t think I can do it again, so I think if he comes back it’ll be in someone else’s movie.. Channing Tatum [was] so excited to play Gambit and I would happily be the fifth banana in his or anyone else’s movie [film]”.

Elsewhere in the interview, Reynolds credited the success of Deadpool and Wolverine to “rarity and surprise”, while admitting that he would much rather stay home with his family than work on a fourth film. “So it’s been six years since the last one, and part of the reason is that it’s swallowing up my whole life.,” he explained “I have four childrenand I never want to be away [parent]. I kind of die inside when I see their faces, and they’re doing some gym thing or something and I missed it“.
Deadpool and Wolverine broke various records
“Deadpool and Wolverine finds Wade Wilson (Reynolds) with his past as a morally flexible Deadpool behind him, until he finds himself in a fight for the survival of his homeworld and must suit up again – and convince reluctant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help him,” reads the official synopsis. The film, which featured several high-profile cameos from actors like Chris Evans, beat all sorts of box office records with its worldwide profit of $1.33 billion.
The film also broke the audience record on Disney+, with 19.4 million views in its first six days. Deadpool and Wolverine went on to win the title of highest-grossing R-rated worldwide, beating that of 2019. Joker. Wesley Snipes, who reprized his role as Blade for the film, set a Guinness World Record for longest career as a live-action Marvel character. Additionally, the superhero project broke the swearing record by dropping 116 F-bombs.

Although Reynolds seems uncertain about his character’s future, Marvel boss Kevin Feige addressed the superhero duo’s future during Disney’s D23 event in Brazil. Addressing the enthusiastic participants, he said: “the plans with Deadpool and Wolverine will always be the same – we’re still wondering where we can fit them in and how quickly“.
Deadpool and Wolverine is currently available to stream on Disney+. The film is also available for purchase in 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Limited Edition Steelbook.
