DC Universe star Frank Grillo knows full well that Marvel is determined to protect the details of its projects and the potential consequences of leaking any information. Creature Commandos The star claims Marvel “almost fired” him multiple times for leaking details while he was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Talk with Comicbook.comGrillo admitted that he was hesitant to share details about his current role in the DCU as Rick Flag Sr. because of his history with Marvel. According to Grillo, saying too much nearly got him fired from the MCU on multiple occasions. “You know, unfortunately, there’s nothing i can really say that wouldn’t get me in trouble. So I kind of have to step back and be like, ‘I’ll take the fifth,'” Grillo said. “I’m so bad at this. Like, Marvel Almost Fired Me 36 Times Because I Don’t Know. I never want to lie. And so, I do it a little too much. But I have been warned.
Grillo portrayed Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the MCU, making his debut in Captain America: The Winter SoldierHe also played the famous HYDRA infiltrator in the upcoming Captain America following, Civil warbefore his most recent appearance in the MCU in Avengers: EndgameGrillo made the jump from the MCU to the DCU last year when he was cast as Rick in Creature Commandosthe first of five Max DCU series under the title Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. He later criticized the way Crossbones, a major antagonist of Captain America, was handled in his live-action appearances.
Frank Grillo to Appear in Animated and Live-Action Films in the DCU
Creature Commandos In the animated series, Grillo will play Rick’s version of himself, as he and his colleagues from the black ops team of the same name embark on missions assigned by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). The James Gunn-created series, which is currently in post-production, stars Grillo alongside David Harbour (Eric Frankenstein), Maria Bakalova (Princess Ilana Rostovic), Steve Agee (John Economos), Sean Gunn (GI Robot/Weasel), Zoë Chao (Nina Mazursky) and Alan Tudyk (Doctor Phosphorus).
Grillo is also set to play the role of Rick in live-action Peacemaker Season 2 was confirmed for the series in May. The next season of Peacemaker will see Rick face off against John Cena’s eponymous character, as Rick seeks revenge after Peacemaker killed his son during The Suicide SquadGrillo is also rumored to reprise his role in the first DCU film, Supermanfollowing a recent set photo showing him alongside David Corenswet’s Man of Steel.
Creature Commandos The first trailer for the series was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in July, but it has yet to be released to the public. The upcoming series consists of seven episodes, all written by Gunn.
