Although Starman is considered one of DC Comics’ most iconic limited series, its canon has been questioned in recent years. However, the DC line has confirmed that the Dawn comic is Starman canon, thus ending the recent debate about continuity in the DC Universe.

Justice Society of America #8 by Geoff Johns and Mikel Janin was a comic that confirmed this, showing the Justice Society trying to improve (and even recruit) various villains. The mission is led by Batman’s daughter, Helena Wayne, who has knowledge of the upcoming Justice Society.
Now, the crux of this comic is that Helena is seen saying that they need to find Kyle Knight, because he’s destined to be an important person. Stargirl comments that Kyle is currently five years old and that his father, Jack Knight, has retired and no longer works as a superhero. Although this part of the story may not seem relevant, what they’re talking about confirms that the Starman limited series from the 1990s is canon in the current DC Universe continuity.
The 90’s Starman series, written by James Robinson and illustrated by Tony Harris, became one of DC Comics’ most popular series. The story told there was considered a love letter to the Golden Age and the values associated with classical comedy. The series ended with Jack Knight retiring and passing the mantle to Stargirl.
