With the first Daredevil: Born Again trailer, fans have been looking for clues as to what Disney+ has in store for them. The Man Without Fear will go through a crisis of faith, wondering if being a vigilante makes sense. Interestingly, Wilson Fisk is going to make this journey difficult, not as a kingpin, but as mayor of New York.

A new vigilante appears as Marvel Studios once again throws Hell’s Kitchen into disarray: Hector Ayala, the White Tiger. The character is seen donning his iconic costume, but who is he in the source material and what could the Disney+ series have in store for us?

Daredevil: Born Again’s Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio explain what’s in store for their characters and why any encounter should remain tense.

Hector was born in Puerto Rico. He was created to add diversity to the Marvel stable, inspiring many as the first Latin American superhero. Hector found mystical amulets worn by the Sons of the Tiger and became superhuman. He became agile, faster and tougher, presenting himself as a street super-soldier. He was not invulnerable, however.

Hector, as the White Tiger, worked with Daredevil, Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, Luke Cage and many others to clean up New York.. He would face various cartels, as well as the Knave of Hearts who believed Hector had killed his father. Over time, Hector became a cult symbol, but was unfortunately taken down by Gideon Mace. He recovered, but became addicted to the power of the amulets granted by the Tiger God.

He would eventually be shot and die in a criminal case where he would be wrongly accused of murder again.. Once his name was cleared, the relics would pass to his sister, Angela, although the Hand killed and weaponized her. The relics then went to Hector’s niece Ava, who became the new White Tiger. In all these stories, the amulets seemed more like a curse than a gift. Trouble always followed the amulets, even when the first Sons of the Tiger wielded them.

“A Path to More Control”: Vincent D’Onofrio Promotes Daredevil: Born Again Mayor Fisk’s Storyline

Lead actor Vincent D’Onofrio teases a bigger, crazier version of the Mayor Fisk storyline from the Daredevil: Born Again comics.

In the Born again trailer, Hector is seen fighting thugs on the subway. He is a very dangerous and fearless fighter. However, as he dons his costume, it is unclear whether he was powered by any magical relics. If it is, Marvel Studios could highlight the supernatural elements left by iron fist And The defenders in the age of Netflix. As it stands, it looks like Hector will be punished, perhaps being a wannabe driven by Daredevil’s cavalier nature.

This could reinterpret Hector’s story and perhaps focus more on masked wrestlers – a popular concept in Puerto Rico and Mexico, among others. Notably, Sony abandoned this concept with Bad Bunny’s El Muerto, but that doesn’t mean Hector can’t fill this role. If Kingpin has banned vigilantism and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock is retired, Hector will have an opportunity to find his purpose and pursue his destiny as Daredevil’s replacement..

This may further present the Tiger God as a grounded aspect of faith, allowing Hector to focus more on religion like Matt did with Catholicism.. As for the push factor, it could be that he lost a loved one, similar to Matt and so many other heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Likewise, he could just fulfill his civic duty and inspire everyone with the mask. This was Daredevil’s original plan, and it’s something even DC’s Batman wanted: to become a symbol of selflessness.

White Tiger fans are hoping he doesn’t die to entice Matt back into action. A team, as in tradition, would be more nuanced in this sense. Ultimately, this is a big step toward diverse representation. White Tiger is an underrated vigilante who adds style to the comics. So he has the potential to do more than just play a small role in the new Daredevil TV series.

Daredevil: Born Again debuts March 4 on Disney+.

Daredevil and Kingpin will face off again, now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Punisher will also get a piece of the action.
