Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Rebirth promises to surprise fans with the continuation of the Netflix series and many of the original stars.
Charlie Cox has excited fans by confirming that Daredevil: Rebirth will include a one-shot fight sequence similar to the popular scenes from the Netflix series. At the recent Fan Expo Boston, Cox and co-star Vincent D’Onoffrey shared exciting details about what we can expect in this new installment.
The new covenant in regeneration
In a panel moderated by Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Charlie Cox explained to the audience what “one” is. According to Cox, “One” is a fight scene filmed in one take, with no cuts. There are different types of “owners” and Cox says “real” is when there is no editing or discontinuity, as opposed to those that use editing techniques to appear continuous.
“You don’t feel bad for people who are excited about ‘The Classics,'” said Cox, adding that Daredevil: Rebirth includes one of those epic fight sequences. However, he did not elaborate on whether it will be “real” as seen in the third season, or whether it will have mini-cuts like the famous fight in the hallway from the first season.
A direct continuation of the Netflix series
Daredevil: In 2023, following a creative shakeup caused by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, the Netflix/Marvel series was recognized as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) canon. This makes Rebirth the fourth Daredevil chapter, though billed as a one-off series. Before the creative reboot, Rebirth wasn’t expected to have much to do with the Netflix series. However, both Cox and D’Onofrio have stated that this has changed and the reboot is now expected to have the same tone as the Netflix iteration.
In addition to Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Daredevil: Born Again features several actors from the Netflix/Marvel era. Deborah Ann Wall returns as Karen Page and Elden Henson returns as Foggy Nelson. Ayelet Zurer will return to play Kingpin’s wife Vanessa Fisk after Marvel released the reboot with Sandrine Holt and re-booted her scenes following the creative reboot. Jon Bernthal and Wilson Bethel also return as Frank Castle/Punisher and Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye.
Charlie Cox and Rebirth Expectations
Cox isn’t shy about expressing his excitement for the new series. The creative team has stated on multiple occasions that they are committed to preserving the essence of what makes the Netflix series so popular with fans. The inclusion of a new “one” is just one example of how they are working to achieve this. Sequences like this are not only visually stunning, but also demonstrate the commitment to quality and accuracy of fight scenes that fans have come to expect from Daredevil.
“Honors” have become a trademark of Daredevil, standing out for their intensity and detailed choreography. The corridor scene of the first season became iconic not only for its technical complexity, but also for the way it captured the brutality and determination of its characters. These types of scenes require careful coordination between actors, camera crews and stunt men, which makes their success all the more impressive.
What to expect from Daredevil: Rebirth
With a scheduled premiere on Disney+ in March 2025, Daredevil: Rebirth is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated series of the year. Fans are excited to see how their favorite characters’ stories will develop and integrate into the MCU. Confirmation of “One’s” inclusion has already raised expectations, and with the return of the original stars, Rebirth promises to be worthy of the acclaimed Netflix series.
Since its debut on Netflix, Daredevil has been an example of how superhero series combine intense action with deep narrative and complex characters. With Rebirth, there’s an opportunity to explore new aspects of these characters and their stories, while maintaining the essence of what made them stand out. The prospect of more “classics” will only add to the excitement, as this new series guarantees fans the same magical touch that made Daredevil so popular.
Daredevil: Rebirth not only brings back beloved characters, but also introduces new stories and challenges that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. March 2025 is marked on the calendar, the wait is full of excitement and expectations.
