After his debut in Deadpool and Wolverine, Channing Tatum’s performance may not have gone unnoticed by Marvel
After a wait that seemed endless, Channing Tatum finally brought Gambit to life Deadpool and Wolverinerealizing a childhood dream before the eyes of millions of people. His performance not only resonated with fans, but also appears to have captivated Marvel executives, who, in the words of Ryan ReynoldsI am “obsessed” with his portrayal of the charismatic mutant.
The enthusiasm is no less than that aroused by Reynolds himself Dead Pool years ago, when leaked test footage led 20th Century Fox to greenlight the project that would revitalize the actor’s career and redefine superhero cinema with a cheeky, irreverent edge. Now, it may be Tatum’s turn to revive a character who, although expected for more than a decade, had never found his time or place until now.
A dream come true
“I don’t know exactly what goes on behind closed doors in Marvel’s accounting sessions, but they’re obsessed with him in that role.” Reynolds confessed on Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, praising Tatum’s performance. The situation he shares with Reynolds is similar: Both actors have seen how a long-desired role can turn into a reality applauded by fans, generating a seemingly insatiable demand for more.
Channing Tatum is not an actor suited to the role just because of his acting skillsbut rather his physique, his way of moving and his ability to adopt the character’s specific gestures contributed to an incarnation that many consider definitive. “Channing is unique in the way he plays that character, but he’s also extraordinarily attractive in his physique and the way he moves and the way he steps,” adds Reynolds.
Gambit’s future in the MCU
Tatum’s appearance as Gambit was one of many surprises Deadpool and Wolverinea film that also brought back to life other beloved characters such as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, played by Chris Evans, and Elektra, by Jennifer Garner. However, it’s Gambit who seems to have stolen the show, sparking cries for a greater presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Reynolds is no stranger to praising his co-stars, and with Tatum he didn’t skimp on the praise. “Gambit is a character that Chan was born to play. “He spent a decade trying to bring the more cartoony version of Gambit to the big screen,” Reynolds wrote on Instagram, showing his unconditional support.
AS Marvel Studios continues to explore and expand its universethe addition of Gambit through Tatum’s vision seems like a safe and exciting bet. The question now isn’t whether we’ll see more of this charismatic thief and mutant, but when and how Marvel decides to fully integrate him into the tapestry of its cinematic narrative.

A mutant icon waiting on the big screen
Gambit, known as Remy LeBeau, is an iconic character from the X-Men universe, famous for his ability to charge inanimate objects with explosive energy.cards are his favorite weapon. His Cajun accent and history as a thief with a heart of gold make him a fan favorite, setting him apart from other more conventional heroes in the Marvel universe. This peculiarity fueled the wait for his appearance in the MCU, hoping it brings a new dynamic to the already diverse line of characters.
Compared to other mutants, Gambit brings with him a mystique antihero who could be deeply explored in future Marvel films. His background of conflict and redemption could provide a rich narrative vein compared to other characters, whose morality is more defined. Marvel has the opportunity to explore his complex personality and dark origins, offering the audience an anti-hero to root for among the more traditionally heroic figures.
