The director of Kick-Ass 2 wants to make a Captain America movie with Will Smith or The Rock to bring the Marvel Universe hero to life.
Jeff Wadlow, who is best known for directing Kick-Ass 2, has revealed that he has approached Marvel about making a Captain America movie that strays away from the comic book character.

In an interview with Alex Zahn, the filmmaker said that he would be happy to take on the responsibility of a superhero film and recalled that he had thought of doing a Steve Rogers film years ago. However, his version of the character was far from what the studio wanted.
“I would kill to do a superhero film. I am very close to some of them [proyectos]. In the year I don’t know what they’re doing now, but I want that movie to change the rules of the game so much.”
“At the time, I thought never in a million years would they make a Captain America movie. I made a proposal to Captain America… needless to say, I think my idea was far from his. Part of my thesis was that Captain America shouldn’t be a pale white man. That’s Ariane’s idea. Captain America must look like Will Smith or a wrestler named The Rock. In the end, they had different plans, but I would 100% kill to make a great superhero movie.
The curious thing about Wadlow’s vision is that it will come true in some way, because a few years later we will see Sam Wilson as Captain America in the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, I think it would be a mistake to change a beloved character like Steve Rogers, there are just as many interesting heroes out there, white or non-white.
