The star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Benedict Cumberbatchoffered interesting tidbits about the following appearances of Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange won’t be in Avengers: Doomsday
During an interview with Variety, Cumberbatch commented that we won’t see him in the next Avengers film which hits theaters in May 2026. The actor told the outlet that the studio’s plans had changed following the firing Jonathan Majorsand that his absence in Doomsday is due to “the character not aligning with this part of the story”.
However, the actor then stressed that Strange will be present in many parts Avengers: Secret Warssuggesting that he will have a key role in said film. Additionally, Variety’s article confirmed that Doctor Strange 3 is officially in development. “It’s pretty central to where things could go… They’re very open to discussing where we go next. Who do you want to write and direct the next film? What part of comic book history do you want to explore so Strange can continue to evolve?”

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters in May 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in May 2027. Doctor Strange 3 It doesn’t have a release date yet.
