A brand new clip from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice came online, starring Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse and Monica Bellucci as Betelgeuse’s ex-wife, Delores. Unlike Keaton, who had previously worked with director Tim Burton on the Batman films, this marks Bellucci’s first collaboration with Burton since they began dating.




THE Beetlejuice Beetlejuice The clip gave fans their first glimpse into Betelgeuse’s previous life as a human, which was not touched upon in the original 1988 film. In the video, Keaton’s fan-favorite character tells the story of how He met his ex-wife Delores during the Black DeathHe reveals that Delores was the one responsible for his death, after she poisoned him on their wedding night because of his connection to the cultAs of now, the horror-comedy sequel is on track to have a massive opening weekend, with some reports predicting that the film could gross around $100 million to $110 million in the United States.


Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is directed by Burton from a screenplay written by Wednesday Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. In addition to Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara are also returning for the sequel to reprise their roles as Lydia and Delia Deetz, respectively. The cast will also include franchise newcomers Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s teenage daughter Astrid, Bellucci as Delores, Willem Dafoe as afterlife detective Wolf Jackson, Justin Theroux as Lydia’s boyfriend Rory, Burn Gorman as a reverend, Danny DeVito, Arthur Conti, and more. Since its world premiere at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival, the film has received a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.


The official synopsis for the sequel reads: “Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his own brand of chaos.”



How Wednesday Inspired Beetlejuice 2

In a previous interview, Burton confirmed that he was working on the first installment of the Netflix series. Wednesday The series had rekindled his passion for filmmaking, which gave him a chance to reflect on Beetlejuice 2. “Wednesday was when I reconnected with why I love to do things. It was like making a movie on a TV schedule. It was fast-paced. It was invigorating,” Burton said. “We didn’t set out to do a sequel. This was before we were talking about franchises. The first time I heard that word, actually, was on Batman Returns. I remember hearing it for the first time and it just sent a shiver down my spine.” Currently, Burton and Ortega are in production in Ireland on the highly anticipated second season of Wednesday.
