Theater owners are concerned about Aquaman 2 box office predictions
Movie theater owners say the Christmas box office may be in jeopardy, and some experts think Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be a flop.
Cinemas are in trouble.
Aquaman 2 box office predictions indicate a failure for the DC film, and worst of all, this means that theaters will not fill theaters in December.
Although the Super Mario Movie and The Barbenheimer Incident were huge hits and helped the entertainment industry, movie theaters always depended on the Christmas-time event movie.
However, for the first time in more than a decade (not counting 2020, the year the pandemic hit the entertainment industry), theaters will end the year without a major release with the potential to gross $1 billion.
Phoenix Theaters owner Corey Jacobson has expressed concern about the 2023 Christmas box office. They shared Jacobson’s words in different ways: “You can’t see the release calendar until the end of the year and “You can’t find a movie that stands out like Avatar. “Like a great movie.”
Before the end of the year, theaters should release Aquaman 2, Wonka, A24’s sports drama The Iron Claw and the musical adaptation of The Color Purple. Unfortunately, none of these films are expected to reach the billion dollar mark at the box office.
Since the calendar, theater owners think that the box office depends only on the success of Aquaman 2, and this is a serious problem. Box office experts are not optimistic about the possibility of the Aquaman sequel repeating the success of the first film. After the failures of movies like The Flash and Blue Beetle, the next DC Universe adventure is expected to continue in the same vein.
Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock opines that the next Aquaman movie is responsible for saving the month of December.
“The holiday season falls on the shoulders of ‘Aquaman,’ and that’s not a good shoulder to wear something on. We are seeing the decline of these major franchises. This year, the public has shown that they want original things. “Hollywood can’t just put Roman numerals on things.”
Only time will tell if Aquaman 2 will exceed expectations when it hits theaters.
