A new look at the creation of Alien: Romulus has been revealed. It features the offspring seen in the film out of character and taking a certain direction, which may be a bizarre sight for fans to see after watching the film.
The video was shared on social media by director Fede Alvarez. In the comments, some fans expressed surprise at how Offspring was created with practical effects, while others found it a bit funny to see the creature acting so nonchalant while conversing with a human on the set of the film. The video can be seen below.
The “Offspring” is the name given to the creature in the film, although it is a human-xenomorph hybrid, giving it a unique appearance that pays homage to PrometheusBobroczkyi is a former Romanian basketball player, and his height obviously played a big part in landing the role. The former athlete, who made his acting debut with his role as Offspring in Romulusis listed as being 7 feet 7 inches tall.
Alien: Romulus relied on special effects rather than computer-generated images
“For the creatures, we brought in all the guys from Aliens“, Alvarez said earlier THR about the efforts to bring the film series back to its roots with more practical effects. “They were in their twenties when they made Aliensand they were part of Stan Winston [special effects] “So we decided to bring them together to work on all the creatures, because we used animatronics and puppets in every level. I even got to be under the table with them, manipulating all these animatronics.”
He continued: “I have this obsession with not having a green screen, so we built every creature and every set. Everything had to be built so that we were really living and breathing in these spaces… When it comes to face-to-face encounters and moments with creatures, there’s nothing like the real thing.”
Alvarez co-wrote the screenplay for Alien: Romulus with Rodo Sayagues. The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu. Stranger Director Ridley Scott served as a producer on the film, working with Alvarez on its production. Michael Pruss and Walter Hill also produced the film.
