Alaqua Cox reveals which Avenger she wants to share the screen with, and you’re about to be surprised.

After shining in Marvel’s new star in Hawkeye, Alqua Cox has expressed her desire to share the screen with Scarlet Witch.

In the vast and ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), each new character brings a world of possibilities. Alaqua Cox, who has impressed fans with her role as Maya Lopez/Acon on the Disney+ series “Hawkeye,” has hinted at her future in the superhero universe.

The rise of Maya Lopez

Maya Lopez, who debuted in 1999’s “Daredevil #9,” has come a long way from the pages of Marvel Comics. She made her MCU debut alongside Cox in 2021’s acclaimed series Hawkeye, sharing scenes with Clint Barton and Kate Bishop. But it was in “Echo” that the story unfolded, showing us Wilson Fisk’s struggle with his heritage and Native American roots.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Cox, through an ASL interpreter, shared his hopes for the future of the MCU. “I can definitely see Maya appearing in more Daredevil stuff. And, maybe in the new Avengers, that’s something I’d like to think about. It would be amazing to see that happen. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” he said.

But not only that, but when asked which hero Maya would like to meet, Cox said, “The first person that comes to mind is WandaVision or Scarlet Witch.” I’d love to see it.” Crossing over with Wanda Maximoff, known for her powerful magic and complex psyche, certainly opens up new interesting narratives for Echo.

Maya Lopez’s legacy in the world of comics

In the year Created by David Mack and Joe Quesada, Maya was notable for being one of the few deaf and Native American characters in a universe dominated by traditional superheroes. His portrayal in “Hawkeye” and “Echo” resonated with fans around the world for its authenticity and depth, not only staying true to the source material, but taking the legacy to new heights.

Maya Lopez joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe has opened the door for interesting comparisons with other characters. As Wanda Maximoff, Maya faces deep inner conflict and a personal connection to her roots and heritage. But, like Wanda, Maya’s fight goes against the bounds and expectations of her environment, making her journey through the MCU unique and emotionally resonant. The chance encounter between these two characters promises to be not just a visual spectacle, but a meeting of the deepest worlds and experiences of humanity.

A series that breaks the mold at Marvel

“Echo” isn’t just another Marvel series. Created as part of the new Marvel Spotlight initiative, it seeks to move away from Marvel’s usual big-budget model to focus more on character-driven stories. The series delves into the Maya world, confronting Wilson Fisk’s organization and her journey of self-discovery and connection with her Native American community.

Although the series is slated as a limited production run, series creator Amy Rardin has hinted that a second season may be in the works. After its highly-watched premiere on Disney+ and Hulu, Reddin suggested, “If we’re lucky enough to get a season 2, I think I could watch Maya and Kingpin all day. The relationship between Maya and Fisk, full of emotion and intrigue, promises to be fertile ground for more stories.
