What exactly did James Gunn say?
When a fan on Threads asked if Tudyk would play any of his animated characters in live action, Gunn responded bluntly: “Oh, yes.” This comment reinforces Gunn’s strategy of maintaining consistency between the animated and live-action versions of the DCU.
Previously, Gunn said that actors who play lead roles in the animated projects will take on the same roles in the live-action projects as well. A clear example is Frank Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr. in Commando of creatures and will reprise his role in live action Superman (2025) and the second season of Peacemaker.
However, when asked if Tudyk would play three different characters in the DCU, Gunn clarified: “As always said, we intend to have the actors play the same role in the ‘principal castings’. If he is a minor character in Commando of creatureswe don’t look for actors for live action like we did with more important characters like Circe, Nina, etc.”
