When Aubrey Plaza takes on a new project, she brings not only her talent to the set, but also a healthy dose of mischief. Recently, the iconic actress revealed how she used to play some unique pranks on her co-stars while simultaneously filming Megalopolis and the upcoming WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along.
The wizard on the set
According to Deadline, Plaza commented that he had the opportunity to enjoy the two weeks of production of both plays in Atlanta. “I went from one set to another, wearing wigs and wow suits. [su personaje en Megalopolis] And the next day, I go to Agatha’s set dressed as a warrior witch with a sword and armor,” Plaza explained.
Plaza, known as WOW Platinum in Megalopolis and soon known as the sorceress Rio Vidal in All Along, did not miss the opportunity to mix the two worlds. “At one point, when I was dressed as my Marvel character, I snuck onto the Megalopolis set and started harassing Giancarlo Esposito and Adam Driver and everybody. It was absolutely crazy behavior,” the actress admits. He also stated that Wow’s interpretation gave him a lot of confidence during production. “She was incredibly confident and not afraid of anything. “There were definitely days when I was inspired by the character.”
A witch with many spells
“At one point I walked into the Megalopolis set dressed as my Marvel character and started harassing Giancarlo Esposito and Adam. [Driver] And for everyone.”
In October 2023, it was confirmed that Plaza will play Rio Vidal, a completely new character in the MCU, in All Along with Kathryn Hahn as a master of the occult arts. Agatha All Along is a 2021 spin-off of WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision. While little is known about Ryo’s character yet, she is reportedly a witch in Agatha’s Covenant and her narrative mirrors Diana’s mirror, also known as the Emerald Witch.
The strength of the covenant
Hahn recently described her experience on the set, praising her co-stars and crew. “The covenant is strong. [Agatha All Along] It’s very funny and profound,” Hahn said. “I was inspired and honored to work with all these people every day.” Hahn also highlighted the work of set designers, especially in the creation of the legendary witch’s path. “When we saw the set, we started crying. It’s so beautiful and a wonderful story. It looks like a 100 million dollar movie.”
The series is scheduled to premiere on September 18, 2024 on Disney+.
Aubrey Plaza, MCU and Megalopolis
Plaza’s impact on the MCU is highly anticipated, especially given her unique approach and ability to bring complex, multifaceted characters to life. With his signature humor and screen presence, his turn as Rio Vidal promises to be a highlight for all. This spin-off not only further explores the dark and magical world introduced in Vandavision, but also introduces new dynamics and conflicts within the Marvel Universe.
On the other hand, Megalopolis, directed by the legendary Francis Ford Coppola, promises to be a cinematic epic, bringing together an all-star cast that includes Adam Driver and Giancarlo Esposito. The film explores themes of utopia and dystopia in a narrative that is sure to challenge actors and audiences alike. Plaza’s ability to jump between these two very different worlds speaks to her versatility and commitment as an actress.
Filming for both productions simultaneously not only allows Plaza to entertain his co-stars with his encore, but also highlights his ability to balance important projects in his career. Fans are eager to see how their performances in both the roles will play out on the big and small screen.
