Ana de Armas will meet John Wick in Ballerina, the first film from the saga.

At CinemaCon 2024, new images from the John Wick spin-off Ballerina starring Ana de Armas were revealed.

The John Wick universe expands.

During the event, it was confirmed that the film will take place between the third and fourth installments of the original saga, and will focus on Rooney (De Armas), a deadly dancer. Lionsgate took the opportunity to show off a trailer for this spinoff.

In a preview released by CinemaCon, Rooney is seen dancing as one of Anjelica Huston’s character’s daughters, which our character realizes is out for revenge. Rooney is shown training in a variety of locations, including icy locations, and many action scenes. In a single trailer, De Armas is seen arriving at the El Continental Hotel and being greeted by Winston (Ian McShane) and Charon (Lance Reddick). On the other hand, the voice of Norman Reedus’ character can be heard during the preview (presumably his role is that of an antagonist). Finally, a meeting between Rooney and John Wick is shown.

The film was originally slated for a 2024 release, but was delayed, and is now slated for a summer 2025 release. Apparently, after seeing what they did, they decided to call on Chad Stahelski to add even more awesomeness. Action scenes, and control the project. Fans of the franchise will have to be patient to see if the over-a-year wait will be worth it when the film hits theaters in 2025.
