Daredevil gets a whole new look that will make the Punisher jealous

A key aspect that made Daredevil — the Formerly Netflix-exclusive series adaptation of the Marvel comic book – a refreshing take on the already unique hero was his uniform, which retains his original evil appearance, but in a more practical way. It looks like Matt Murdock is getting a makeover for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

An exclusive first look at the return of the original Disney+ series, Marvel Cinematic Universe-canon Empire features an image of Charlie Cox dressed as the eponymous vigilante, but with a noticeably different design to his outfit. Daredevil still wears the same evil horns from his helmet and woven Kevlar panels into his uniform, but the color scheme seems to have evolved to a solid black, and the only distinctive red accents are in the logo located on his chest, as seen in a tweet (or X-post) from Empire:

This isn’t the first time that Charlie Cox’s portrayal of Matt Murdock – a lawyer who, as a child, lost his sight in an accident that also enhanced his remaining senses to almost superhuman levels – has evolved his ensemble. In fact, for much of the first season of Daredevilwhich premiered on Netflix in 2015, he patrolled the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in a black compression shirt with matching cargo pants and a bandana worn over his eyes.

It wasn’t until the season finale that he donned his more definitive and protective outfit, complete with red accents, which was personally designed for him by Melvin Potter (Matt Gerald). Other variations of the outfit were introduced later, such as one with a red and yellow color scheme seen during Daredevil’s appearance on She-Hulk: lawyer in 2022.

Daredevil Season 2 will actually only be the live-action debut of the vigilante’s black suit, as he actually made his first appearance when Daredevil was on Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Manan animated series following the webslinger. One thing is certain, when Matt crosses paths with Jon Bernthal’s Frank “The Punisher” Castle again, the gun-toting war veteran will no longer be able to call his pal “Red.”

Because as striking as Matt Murdock’s new costume is, it’s not the point of Empirethe preview of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The magazine’s first preview chooses to focus on the story, which will involve the eponymous hero’s continuing war on crime in a New York City now under the control of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), formerly known in the criminal world as Kingpin.

Fortunately, Murdock is not alone in this war and can count on a trusted ally in the form of Jessica Jones, with whom he previously fought in the 2017 crossover miniseries, The defenders. Actress Krysten Ritter kept the secret of her ultra-powerful private detective’s return in Daredevil: Born Again a secret for two tortuous years before she appeared in the season 2 trailer.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2026.
