Scarlet Witch takes on the most powerful title in the magical Marvel Universe and promises to revolutionize everything

Marvel just confirmed what many fans dreamed but few dared imagine: Wanda Maximoff will be the new Supreme Sorceress of the Marvel universe. The publisher announced this in an official press release which sparked a wave of enthusiasm on social media. The mighty Scarlet Witch will not only release one title, but also her own titled series Sorcerer Supremewritten by Steve Orlando and illustrated by Bernardo Chang (Blood hunters).

Marvel’s statement clarifies: “Wanda Maximoff was many things: mother, Avenger and Scarlet Witch. Now she claims a new title: Sorceress Supreme”. The series will debut soon December 31, 2025and will have the main covers of Leirix and variants of the recognized Russell Dautermannwho will also redesign Wanda’s dress to reflect her new status. Each of Dauterman’s first five covers will highlight the members of the magical council that will advise Wanda, including powerful names like Clea, Chthon and Wiccan.

But the story won’t be all rosy. According to Marvel, the plot will pit Wanda against her former mentor Agata Harnesswho was also chosen Supreme Sorceress by the Vishanti, the guardians of mystical power. The synopsis promises an epic battle: “After a violent confrontation with her former teacher, Wanda awakens in Limbo, where nothing is as it seems. To escape, she must defeat her ruler… Madelyne Pryor”.

With Wanda and the Vishanti distracted by this conflict, more threats mystics begin to emergeputting the balance of Marvel’s magical universe at risk. And it will be here that Wanda, determined to redefine her role as Earth’s protector, will expand her power beyond what any Sorcerer Supreme has done before.

Screenwriter Steve Orlando, who has already explored Wanda’s potential in the series Scarlet Witchshowed his enthusiasm for this new stage. “I can’t wait for fans to see Wanda don the cape and Eye of Agamotto. She is a born disruptor, a force for change in the face of the guardians of magic… but with the betterment of the world as her goal.”he declared. Orlando also praised Chang and the colorist’s work Ruth Redmondguaranteeing it “Every page they touch brings with it a style and power unlike anything seen before in Wanda.”.

The union between these three artists promises a vibrant visual tone and a narrative that will come together drama, action and mystical symbolism. Chang, known for his dynamic and expressive work, will provide a modern aesthetic that could mark a before and after in the visual representation of the magical Marvel universe.

Wanda faced with her destiny

The choice of Wanda as the Supreme Witch is not only a twist in the script, but a movement of demand. After years of being treated as a tragic or even dangerous figure, Scarlet Witch regains her place as a heroine and leader.
