A third party company currently provides Transformers with a powerful, prehistoric Combiner based on a classic Generation 1 team. This includes the original members of that group, with one of those characters now receiving variant figures revealed by the developer.

Newage Toys has revealed new toy variants for Typhon, a new Ankylosaurus Dinobot that can combine with the rest of the team. These include color schemes based on the history of the Dinobots, from the original G1 toys to a more “broken” incarnation. Now available for pre-order, this version of an esoteric Autobot is set to release just in time for Christmas.

Newage Toys’ Latest Dinobot Figure Gets Redecos Honoring Transformers’ ‘Colorful’ History

The Newage Toys H72 Typhon toy itself was introduced not too long ago, this is a character unfamiliar to most old school fans. An original Dinobot that is unrelated to any member of the G1 team, this ankylosaur is apparently based on Skarr, an equally retroactive “G1 Dinobot” with the same alternate mode that has been seen in recent toy lines. Beyond beast mode, he can also combine with other Dinobot figures from Newage Toys to form the company’s version of Volcanicus (the team’s modern combined form). There are several options in this project, with the company now revealing the different color variants of the toy. H72C Typhon is a Legends scale figure based on the Marvel Dinobots color scheme. Transformers comics, and there’s even a King Grimlock head for Volcanicus.

H72EX Typhon is based more on the original G1 toys, while H72V is reminiscent of the garish neon of Transformers: Generation 2. Finally, there’s H72B, based on Grimlock’s purple, green, and black colors from the Broken Glass Reverse Universe (those colors themselves being based on the Decepticon Trypticon). This version also comes with an alternate head for Grimlock and Volcanicus, as well as the sword, hammer, and shield weapons used by the other color variants. Priced around $130 USD, these toys can now be pre-ordered online. They are expected to arrive by December 2025, giving fans multiple Dinobots to choose from at the end of the year.
