The closure of the main crossing

In this volume we will encounter many plots that had been expanded and now finally converge. There is no more room for half-truths and secrets come to light, characters finally act with all the information and choices have real consequences.

One of the main focuses is how the truth about The Crucible (an organization of slave traders) and its influence on the life of the master of disguise Jaraelthe commander Expensive Rohlan and the rest of the protagonists. Zayne Carrickthe flawed hero, has been chased and lived as a fugitive, and here comes the time when many things are clarified about his past.

The story will wander, bringing all the plots to an end point that will be particularly powerful. It’s not the happy ending many might expect, but it’s a worthy conclusion to many storylines. It’s accompanied by intimate moments between the characters and scenes that highlight how much they’ve changed since it all began. Even those twists that seemed forced make sense when you look at them again in perspective after reaching the end of the story.

One thing worth pointing out is how John Jackson Millerthe screenwriter of the story, manages the concept of deception throughout the entire narrative arc. The deception is not only of the enemies towards the heroes, but also among the companions. Friends who hide information and characters who change affiliation. That internal tension gives emotional force to the external conflict and is perhaps the most notable aspect of this latest volume.

Graphically, there is a maturity in the styles in these issues: the artists involved here manage to balance spatial action sequences with quieter moments full of dialogue and even silence. However, as far as the visual aspect goes, it has to be said that this is not something the comic will sell on. in the universe Star Wars From Dark Horse It’s true that perhaps the drawing has never been the most refined aspect, but we have seen works done with much more care than what we see in these pages (The legacy of Star Wars would be a good example). It would also be fair to say that it is probably the best of the four volumes in this area.

The unexpected epilogue

After having partially closed the basic saga, we discover that this is not completely over. We have a five-issue epilogue that expands the universe by showing what happens when the pieces are already on the board, when the heroes must fight again, when the wounds of the past don’t fully heal.

This section has a more belligerent and more direct tone where the war is no longer just the background but the protagonist. The humor, camaraderie and moments of friendship are still present, but in the background and more hardened. Here action mixes with wit and heart, and we see some characters who have to pay for their past. But his greatest success is the management of tension. While some of the dialogue feels rushed (a lot of jokes to pack into five issues), the plot twists work and the galactic clashes are quite entertaining. Look like Zayne, Jarael, the merchant Marn Hierogryph and the others continue on their way, no longer fugitives, but as actors in an open war, it is truly comforting after having accompanied them on such a long journey.

It’s also clear that bad guys don’t lower the quality. We have the Crucible forces and the Mandalorians, all with their respective motivations, something that gives them many advantages and distances them from the concept of a flat antagonist. This moral ambiguity ends up being one of the driving forces of the final drama.

Overall, this epilogue succeeds in reinforcing the idea that this isn’t just another Star Wars story, but rather a narrative about guilt, redemption, and loyalty. The character development feels authentic and satisfying, and that’s probably what Jackson wanted to highlight in this ending. But be careful, although we are at the end of the series, the idea is already clear that these characters continue to exist in this universe and that their future story has yet to be told…

A new Legends delivery.

Deceit has been with the crew ever since Zayne’s life as a fugitive brought them together. When former Padawan Zayne Carrick discovers that his beautiful and terrifying ally, Jarael, is fleeing her past as a slave trader in the Crucible, he decides to dedicate himself to redeeming her and helping her face her fears. Together, they will try to put an end to this dark society that has taken so many lives.

But the quartet, composed of Gryph, Jarael herself, Slyssk and Rohlan the Mandalorian, soon realize that the task they faced is much more difficult and dangerous than they expected; for the Crucible is not a gang of life traffickers, but a secret organization that has been spreading like the plague throughout the galaxy for generations and has gone unnoticed until now.
