Afterwards, dig into the exclusive CBR conversation with the co-creator Bryan Andrews and the executive producer Brad Winderbaum about the safe end of episode 4, and the emblematic horror film which directly influenced Andrews while he mapped the sequences.
Why will people discuss the end of the Marvel zombies
Needless to say, this will enter the spoilers to Marvel zombiesspecifically episode 4. Stop reading now if you don’t want to know what’s going on.
At the end of episode 4, the surviving human members of the MCU gather to eliminate a zombie version of The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). The biggest battle occurs between a Thor zombie and a magnificent variant of the Hulk, which has absorbed all the powers of the infinite stones.
While these forces compete, Wanda confronts the head of human resistance, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). Absolutely, as it seems that the battle turns in favor of humans, Wanda made a last attempt to manipulate. She enters Kamala’s psyche and makes him believe that she woke up in a new reality. Kamala’s murdered friends returned. The world, in fact, has returned. Wanda convinces Khan, that she “saved” humanity.
But we obtain brief glimpses – Messages from the real world, which suggest that the zombie apocalypse continues, and Wanda simply transforms Kamala into complacency.
It is an open end, which invites interpretation. It is also a dark, mysterious and unresolved ending which will have fans of Marvel who debate what happened … and where we are going from here.
Speak with Marvel zombies The co-creator Bryan Andrews about this end, I asked him if it was supposed to be the Striks Back-Level Chapter Empire of the Zombie saga in the MCU, and if there is more history to tell. He accepted, but also spoke of the kingdom of horror that influenced him while he was writing. Andrews said to CBR:
Yes, there is certainly more in history. What is funny is that we always want to be faithful to the type of gender that it is. And also because I am a big fan of The Thing, by John Carpenter, who left me a brand when I was younger. I said to myself: ‘Wow, can stories do this? It’s amazing! And the same with the Empire. It was completely suitable.
We knew we wanted it to be where it seemed, there was success, but there is then a large question mark. Is there? And in the early stages of our versions that we were in place, I kept it extremely subtle, right? As really subtle, so that people can really debate: “Is it one thing?” But once we put it on a coil, and my publishers had very good suggestions, we decided: “What do you know?” Maybe we just have to soak a little further and see. I was really reluctant, because I wanted a certain balance. But I think we found the right balance.
For me, the end seems less ambiguous and more dividing because of the place where it leaves history. It is clear that Wanda manipulates Kamala believing that they saved the world by reinvention. And instead, behind this artifice, the real world still suffers from the virus that infected the MCU. This means that there is more in this story, as Andrews said to CBR.
Will we have more Marvel zombies?
Speaking with Andrews and Winderbaum of their plans for the conclusion of this saga, they both clearly indicated that they know where they want to take history, but that it is up to the fans to express an interest. Winderbaum said to CBR:
Bryan and I have all the time all the time on the Marvel universe. There are so many traditions cooked in this thing, and so many stories to tell. And if people subscribe to Disney more and watch this program, we could have the opportunity to tell these stories.
As for the moment, a second season of Marvel Zombies has not been announced, and that concerns me that animation can take several years. THE And if … zombies The episode was released in 2021. This is the year when Marvel Zombies was announced. We may get follow -up of this story earlier in four years, if the production team has already started working on it. Fortunately, because this story takes place in a distinct chronology of the main MCU, the live action slate can proceed to the need Zombies To catch up where he is on a chronology. But really, I hope we will see more of this world long before 2029.
