The idolized leader of the JAKDF is as good as it is dead, leaving everyone to pick up the pieces. Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18, “The Compitble User”, does it, but in the most boring way possible.

Like the previous episode, Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 follows the remaining JAKDF staff as they plan their next action plan and train to fight against their strongest enemies. Naturally, a break is needed in the signing of the anime that Kaiju fights. In exchange, the last episode of Kaiju n ° 8 Season 2 leads to fans with information discharges that go longer than necessary. These are marginally attenuated by the surprising developments of the secondary characters.

More specifically, the episode ends with Hoshina SUBHIRO meeting what remains of Kaiju n ° 10 in a laboratory. The following negotiation between Hoshina and Kaiju n ° 10 is tense and even surprising. It turns out that Kaiju n ° 10 has no problem helping the JAKDF, as long as his wish to become the next weapon of Hoshina is filled. Even more surprising than the wish of Kaiju n ° 10 is that Hoshina accepts its conditions.

In addition, Kaiju n ° 10 reveals everything he can on Kaiju n ° 9. To everyone’s surprise, Kaiju n ° 9 created Kaiju n ° 10. Worse, Kaiju n ° 10 is a prototype of the attempt by Kaiju n ° 9 to create the most powerful and the most potentially apocalyptic Kaiju never seen. The fact is that all this frightening information is simply thrown into the public in a presentation of literal slideshow displayed during the meeting among the best brass and officers of the JAKDF. To his detriment, Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 is an episode rich in exhibition.

Hoshina simply repeats what Kauji n ° 10 told him out of screen, plus tons of other information with an occasional visual flair. Instead of Kafka, Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 focuses on Hoshina and Reno. Although the two do not cross in the episode, they actually follow a very similar path. The two are offered the possibility of having immense power which will surely help the JAKDF to fight Kaiju n ° 9, but they have a high cost. First, Hoshina risks getting lost in the face of a forged weapon of the remains of Kaiju n ° 10 of Kaiju again. Likewise, Reno has been warned that the use of Kaiju n ° 6 in combat can and will shorten its lifespan.

Impressive, Hoshina and Reno accept after a little hesitation. Hoshina accepts the requests of Kaiju n ° 10 under the pretension that he needs the vital intelligence of Kaiju n ° 10 regarding Kaiju n ° 9. However, the Kaiju n ° 10 imprisoned pushes Hoshina to admit that he is equally addicted to the rush to the adrenaline of the fight of Bloodththirsty Kaiju before him. Meanwhile, Reno chooses to undergo the exhausting process of the mastery of Kaiju n ° 6 armor in order to help Kafka realize his dream of finally defeating the threat of Kaiju and living a peaceful life.

It will be interesting to see where the story takes these two characters of support, especially since Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 has just given Hoshina and Reno their greatest personal moments to date. Despite the fact that all the time of the whole episode outside of each other, Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 illustrates their similarities and differences with clarity and grace. It’s just a shame that such a good character development is sandwiched in a rather boring Kaiju n ° 8 episode. Hopefully the next episodes of the anime do justice to Hoshina, Reno and the rest of Kaiju n ° 8Support support.

Kaiju n ° 8 can be known for its stellar action animation, but this is not the case for Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18. Just like the previous episode, Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 is part of the current calm before the storm which is the total war of the JAKDF against Kaiju n ° 9. As such, there is a distinct lack of action here, not to mention the Kaiju screen. At best, Kaiju battles and superpower screens are limited to rapid flashbacks and short extracts. Example, Reno’s initial test with Kaiju n ° 6 armor.

This does not mean that IG production dropped the ball Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18. At a purely technical level, the episode looks and plays well. However, banal animation and lack of creative frills do not make time already exposed Kaiju n ° 8 Episode of all favors. In terms of animation and steering, Kaiju n ° 8 Episode 18 is as superficial and usable as the writing of the episode. Apart from a few cute visual gags and a few unique camera angles, the new Kaiju n ° 8 The episode is not really interesting from a visual point of view.
