The third season of Director has already passed in the middle of the point, which means that people are starting to die. Although the deaths of characters are perfect for a series to increase the tension, this time they carry more important meanings for the titular hero. The underlying current of this season concerns the merchant and, to a lesser extent, the agent of the DEA Susan Duffy, the reconciliation of their pride, but only one learns the lesson.

The previous episode revealed the story of reachmer with the first class sergeant Dominique Kohl who was killed by Xavier Quinn. This occurred, at least in the opinion of reachade, because he did not sufficiently protect the young soldier under his command. Ironically, because Dominique was a legal and good person, Reacher tried to kill Quinn rather than bringing him to the justice of the army. Naturally, he has survived this attempt at his life and now manages a circulation operation of firearms as Julius McCabe. Some important things happen in “Smackdown”. First, the bad guys kill two federal agents, Steven Eliot and Annette, an ATF informant posing as a maid. Second, the agents of the DEA Susan Duffy and Guillermo Villanueva are fully on board (for the moment) with the feeling of fatal justice of reachade. In fact, the character who is the most upset and, yes, frightened is Jack Reachade himself.

The episode may be the least “complete story” of the season so far

“ SmackDown ” Passes from Cliffhanger to Cliffhanger, but many still happen

Many things happen in “Smackdown”, which unfortunately gives the episode a somewhat disjointed feeling. The four previous episodes of season 3 are part of the largest saga while telling a smaller and complete story. This is not the case here. The episode opens with the resolution of McCabe’s henchmen after Duffy and Villanueva in a warehouse. It ends with Reacher and Zachary Beck about to find themselves face to face with “The Boss” for the first time. However, storytellers use this disjointed feeling to their advantage.

Despite the commitment of a reachade towards the cause, the episode ends with him and Duffy in disagreement. She holds hope, naively in the eyes of her allies, that her informant, Theresa, is still alive. Reacher is ready to face his own death to kill Quinn, confident that the agents with whom they worked can clean the rest of the mess without him. It is dark, especially because rebuilding rarely in a situation assuming that he will not take it out.
