How and if…? The Series Finale Is Part Of The MCU Multiverse Saga (And Why It Matters)
What if…? is an anthology series disconnected from MCU continuity, but its series finale has big implications for the future of the Multiverse saga.
A-Force appeared in Secret Wars as an all-female Avengers. Led by She-Hulk, the team included heroes like Nico Minoru and America Chavez.. They protected the Battleworld nation of Arcadia, only to clash with God Emperor Doom’s legion. They didn’t know they were being manipulated by Loki. They fought a dragon named Countess who robbed them of their power and a violent variant of Dazzler-Thor, among many.. The likes of Dazzler and Medusa have joined in to help. Over time, during the Second Civil War event, A-Force suffered its own rift when a precog declared that Nico would become a villain. This started a chain of events that ended with She-Hulk’s death and Nico distrusting the heroes when it was revealed that his supposed target, Alice, was a villain.
There was a lot of depth to the way Carol armed the team, sometimes nodding to Iron Man’s iron-clad ways. Over time, the MCU reportedly considered a film, especially after the female Avengers came together to fight Thanos’ battalion. Avengers: Endgame. Since then, nothing has come to fruition, which is a shame because this could be a powerful project in favor of gender representation and visibility.

7 years later, the MCU may have accidentally corrected the disastrous legacy of this controversial Marvel series
The final season of Disney+’s What If…? has an episode that proves how the Marvel Cinematic Universe could revive and save the legacy of Iron Fist.
THE What if The Season 3 finale has its own version of A-Force with some Exiles mixed in. This is the team led by Captain Carter. She has Storm wielding Mjonlir as a variant of the Thor-weather goddess, with Kahorri and Byrdie also on the team. They travel the Multiverse to protect certain worlds.
In “What If…What If?”, they fight the Watchers. They gain cosmic powers from Uatu and battle his peers in one of the most dynamic and bombastic shows in the MCU. The animated series truly unleashes its scale, giving women amazing moments of collaboration. They’re basically galactic gods, but they still use their signature weapons: Peggy’s shield, Kahorri’s teleport, Storm’s lightning, and Byrdie’s eye lasers.
What is most appreciated is that they feel like an organic, seamless unit. They’re not forced to come together abruptly or for a selective scene that doesn’t feel authentic. They’ve had episodes before that bonded them as a family. This is the goal of the Avengers. Except that here, these women are the greatest heroines of the multiverse. They defeat the Watcher, but Peggy dies. He sets up a cartoon for them to use their powers, not to watch, but to act..
The Watchers want redemption and are willing to help, nodding to how TVA studied and learned they needed to support the sacred timeline and time loop. If this team officially becomes A-Force, it will be able to incorporate established characters like Carol Danvers, Valkyrie, America and Kamala. He can also make room for Dazzler once the X-Men and Mutants come into play, and even offer the Inhumans‘Medusa a place to relive its history.
Last but not least, A-Force had for a time a cosmic ally who controlled a universe within it: the singularity. She teleported across the cosmos, aiding A-Force and Nico in their destiny. It’s a coincidence that Peggy has a similar look to Singularity when she perishes fighting the Watchers. This could see Peggy return as Singularity, with Antimatter from the comics as a possible enemy.. It would give her and her “sisters” the ideal villain, build on the source material, and deftly revamp what the MCU and Disney+ have done with the inspiring feminist subversion of What if.
