Despite the power he wields, Satoru remains an approachable individual with many lovable qualities. Satoru quickly became a fan favorite due to his wonderful sense of humor, vivid displays of power, and seemingly unwavering confidence in himself. Throughout Jujutsu KaisenSatoru delivered many memorable quotes, ranging from hilarious one-liners to thought-provoking sentiments.
Updated January 1, 2025 by Jenny Melzer: Satoru Gojo is one of the wittiest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, and while he doesn’t always say what one might expect from an adult tasked with caring for young wizards, there’s no doubt that He is as intelligent as he is arrogant. “Moral arguments? I hate moral arguments.”
Season 2, Episode 1, “Hidden Inventory”
The Gojo’s Past arc gave fans a glimpse into the sassy sensei’s time as a student, alongside his best and only true friend, Suguru Geto. As the two of them played basketball in the gym, Geto began a moral lecture about their duties as wizards and why it was so important that they protect non-wizards. His conviction and argument are both very well practiced, and it’s easy to see that these are thoughts he’s probably already directed at Gojo.
Moral arguments? I hate moral arguments. Attributing reasons and responsibilities to strength is what those who are weak tend to do. When are you going to stop improving yourself by spouting all this bullshit?
One of the great things about this scene and Gojo’s response to Geto’s moral high ground was how easily he blew it up, calling it exactly what it was: shit. As wizards, they witness all kinds of horrors, and claiming responsibility for protecting those who cannot protect themselves was just a way, according to Gojo, of justifying what they have been doing. submitted. In his eyes, there is no justification, although he eventually comes closer to Geto’s way of thinking as he reaches adulthood.

“I don’t think this asparagus has the energy to withstand that yet, do you?”
Season 2, Episode 9, “Shibuya Incident – Open Door”
Before coming face to face with Kenjaku in the body of his old friend Suguru Geto, Gojo fought his way through the maze of enemies to save as many innocent bystanders as possible. Jogo and Hanami got in his way, and Hanami took a beating before Gojo turned off the curse for good. Calling Hanami an asparagus before taking them out was hilarious, demonstrating that even when he’s at his peak, Gojo has full access to his mind.
The more we try to neutralize my technique, the more I am forced to maintain my technique. I don’t think these asparagus still have the energy to withstand that, do you?
It’s hard to imagine that anything could stop Gojo from achieving his goals, but he faced many obstacles before being locked away in the Prison Realm. However, one cannot help but wonder if all the trials he encountered along the way did not weaken him enough to lead to his sealing. Since Kenjaku isn’t a jerk, it’s likely that this was the plan all along.

“We can’t make him become SkullGreymon…”
Season 2, Episode 5, “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death”
Jujutsu KaisenThe second season of begins with an extended flashback to Satoro Goju and Suguru Geto’s younger years that deconstructs how their friendship turned into a nasty rivalry. This “Hidden Inventory” flashback arc tasks Satoru and Suguru with retrieving Riko Amanai, a special girl who could become a dangerous human vessel if she falls into the wrong hands.
I understand. It would be nice if he transformed into MetalGreymon, but we can’t let him become SkullGreymon. So we make him start again from Koromon.
Satoru attempts to break this scenario down into Digimon lore, which is just extremely relevant to his character. Despite being an incredibly powerful jujutsu wizard, Gojo tends to be very laid back, the kind of guy who doesn’t take life too seriously. It is normal that he is a Digimon fan and refer to it during this time in the past, but it is also very applicable to their current situation.

“Oh, I’m sure everything will be fine.”
Season 2, Episode 1, “Hidden Inventory”
Gojo’s arrogance is his defining characteristic, although he tends to be right when he boasts of his power. As he and Geto walked to meet the Star Plasma Vessel, they discussed the mission and what it would entail. They would protect Riko Amanai from the Star Religious Group and Q, both of whom sought to eliminate her before she could assimilate into Tengen, but Gojo didn’t think they would actually need to worry.
Oh, I’m sure everything will be fine. We are the strongest after all. I mean, that’s what Tengen specifically asked us for, right?
His nonchalant response prompts Geto to try to reason with his best friend, suggesting that maybe he’ll stop being so arrogant and maybe start treating his students better while he’s at it. The idea was absolutely absurd in Gojo’s opinion, demonstrating what Ego fans have come to know and love.

“Are you crying?”
Season 2, Episode 5, “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death”
Jujutsu Kaisen fans get a very distinct introduction to Satoru Gojo in the anime’s first season. He has a strong sense of humor, but he takes his job as a mentor very seriously. This side of his character is cleverly subverted early in season two. Jujutsu KaisenThe “Hidden Inventory” exercise presents Satoru at his most arrogant and brash. It’s incredibly fun to be exposed to this new version of the character, with his stylish, tinted nuances.
Gojo’s serious question to Utahime Iori about whether she’s crying is a simple and economical exchange, but one that still beautifully celebrates Gojo’s unconventional and quirky nature. His ironic need to mock Utahime and infantilize this powerful wizard, who is actually his mentor, lays a tenuous foundation between these two that extends into adulthood. This phrase became so popular that Gojo’s English voice actor, Kaiji Tang, even used it to make sure people recognized him outside the sound booth.

“You’re already half a curse.”
Season 1, Episode 3, “Girl of Steel”
Jujutsu Kaisen features Yuji Itadori as the main character, but the narrative creatively avoided expectations about who the true protagonist of the series is. Yuta Okkotsu is the central character of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and the second season of the anime begins with a four-episode flashback arc called “Hidden Inventory” focusing on Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto’s mission to escort and protect the Star Plasma Vessel.
You’re already half a curse.
However, the first season of the series made a lot of money from the mentor-student relationship, Satoru and Yuji. The quote above is an early example where the truth comes out and Satoru clearly recognizes how dire Yuji’s situation is after his consumption of one of Sukuna’s fingers. He approaches it from an almost casual stance, establishing Gojo’s go-with-the-flow attitude.

“Infinity exists everywhere.”
Season 1, Episode 7, “Assault”
Jujutsu Kaisen‘s jujutsu sorcery results in incredible spectacles that are only made stronger by MAPPA’s pristine visuals. The anime initially shows restraint when it comes to Gojo’s powers because they are so intense and best left to the imagination. This allows their season two showcase to seem even more substantial and make it seem like the audience has warmed up to these intense displays.
Infinity exists everywhere.
Early in the first season, there is a poignant moment where Gojo talks about the permanent nature of infinity and how “infinity exists everywhere.” This specifically concerns his own powers and the fact that technically any distance can still be halved an infinite number of times. But this principle can also be extended to the series as a whole.

“I’m here to save you, Utahime!”
Season 2, Episode 5, “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death”
Jujutsu KaisenThe second season of starts off stronger than ever and benefits from the extended break it takes from Yuji Itadori and other central wizards. Satoru and Suguru working with fellow wizard, Utahime Ioriwho plays an important role throughout the “Hidden Inventory” flashback arc of the series. Gojo and Utahime have the kind of hilarious banter that highlights their relationship.
I’m here to save you, Utahime!
Gojo’s declaration that he is here to save Utahime has become an iconic moment for this outlandish character. It’s a cocky line that exudes the confidence and playfulness that makes Satoru Gojo the person he is. It’s a moment as silly as it is heroic, even though Utahime, who is actually Gojo’s senpai, is quick to point out that she doesn’t need him to save her.

“My student is watching, so I will show myself…”
Season 1, Episode 2, “For Me”
Gojo’s first confrontation with a newly awakened Ryomen Sukuna has many memorable moments. There is none more hilarious, except perhaps when he takes photos of Megumi’s humiliation so he can show it to the second years, than when he recognizes the need to show off in front of Megumi while teaching to the king of curses a brief lesson in modern jujutsu witchcraft. After knocking Sukuna for a loop, the battle begins while a bloodied Megumi cowers nearby, clutching Gojo’s memories of his recent overseas mission.
My student is watching, so I’m going to show off a little.
This first display of arrogance and combat prowess immediately sets the bar for those just learning the world of jujutsu. Gojo is the most powerful sorcerer in the world, and curses and curse users looking to cause trouble will have to go through him first. Even Sukuna’s bravado is thrown into a loop as Gojo begins counting the seconds until Itadori takes over his body.

“It’s your friend Yuji, long dead!”
Season 1, Episode 14, “Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event – Group Battle 0”
Both Megumi and Nobara were deeply depressed when they lost their friend Yuji. Even though I knew from the start that Yuji’s days were numbered as Sukuna’s vesselno one expected to lose him so soon. They didn’t know that Yuji wasn’t actually dead, but Gojo knew that keeping Yuji’s resurrection a secret was for his own good.
It’s your friend Yuji, long dead! …Alright then, everyone from Kyoto, this is Sukuna’s ship, Yuji Itadori.
When it finally came time to officially bring him back from the dead, it didn’t get the reaction they were hoping for. Megumi and Nobara were horrified that Yuji was alive and well after seeing their friend die, and the way Gojo presented him to the group, as a surprise souvenir from his trip, was priceless. It didn’t really go well, which was normal, but the fact that Yuji and Gojo thought it wouldn’t be a big deal made the moment as dark and hilarious as it was tragic and memorable. These children regularly go through many challenges and a shock like this will certainly leave a mark.

“You’re lucky if you can die a normal death…”
Season 1, Episode 1, “Ryomen Sukuna”
Curses are daily occurrences for Satoru Gojo and the rest of Jujutsu Kaisenare heroes, but they are quite shocking when first encountered. Yuji Itadori is shaken to his core during his first exposure to Curses, resulting in a crucial pep talk from Gojo. Gojo points out how a life of chasing curses will permanently change a person’s path and likely end in a painful way.
You’re lucky if you can die normally after encountering a curse.
Gojo wants to make sure Itadori fully understands what he’s getting himself into after bonding with Sukuna, but there’s more to it than that. This is an extremely honest moment of mentorship from Gojo, who doesn’t sugarcoat things, no matter how dire they are.

“What kind of idiot attacks the strong?”
Season 2, Episode 1, “Hidden Inventory, Part 1”
Gojo’s Past Arc gave fans a glimpse of Tokyo Jujutsu High in 2006, when Gojo and Geto were second-year students and best friends. The two strongest students were rather unpleasant together, with their classmate Shoko Ieiri assuring a flabbergasted Utahime that she would never let herself become “trash like those two”. With Gojo relentlessly teasing Utahime, Geto takes the moral high ground, or so it seems, by reminding Satoru that it’s not polite to pick on the weak..
Okay, but what kind of idiot attacks the strong?
Teasing Utahime is one of Gojo’s favorite pastimes. This is a trait that carries over into adulthood, where he can often be found driving his former senpai into the wall during official Jujutsu Society meetings. Whether Utahime is truly bothered by his teasing is often up for debate, as are fans who can’t help but wonder if he might have had a little crush on his slightly older mentor from the Kyoto Prefectural Jujutsu College.

“I’m for Real Real.”
Season 2, Episode 3, “Hidden Inventory 3”
For a moment, anime fans believed that the world’s most powerful jujutsu wizard had lost to Megumi’s wayward father, wizard assassin Toshi Fushiguro, when he stabbed the special grade cursed weapon: the inverted spear of heaven, in his neck. However, through the power of the Reverse Curse Technique, Satoru Gojo pulled himself out of the pit.
I’m really real. I am still alive and well.
This was the first time Gojo had used the Reverse Curse technique, and the overwhelming effect he felt from this success was enough to knock Toshi off his game. Turning the tide of battle in Gojo’s favor, he walked away from a moment that would have otherwise left him dead. It was no wonder he felt this elation. He looked death in the face and said, “No, not today. »And then he finished off Toshi Fushiguro.

“I’ve always been a nice guy…”
Season 1, Episode 5, “Curse Womb Must Die II”
Jujutsu Kaisen is full of deadly characters and Satoru Gojo quickly stands out among his peers. He is committed to training the next generation of jujutsu sorcerers, and his dedication is evident in almost everything he does. Part of what makes Jujutsu Kaisen What makes the anime so distinct is how it balances the time spent at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College.
I have always been a nice guy who takes care of my students.
Gojo is strong, but he is truly a good, empathetic teacher. He enjoys this profession and instilling good values in Itadori and the rest of his students just as much as he enjoys fighting evil. This simple quote perfectly reflects Gojo’s duality. Against an enemy, he is not kind, but his students know how much he cares.

“If you cry and apologize, then I won’t kill you.”
Season 2, Episode 1, “Hidden Inventory, Part 1”
Before Gojo and Geto actually reached the Star Plasma Vessel, Group Q was already on the scene and ready to intercept it. As Geto narrowly avoided an explosion and dove out the window to save Riko, Gojo found himself face-to-face with fighter Q Bayer and a swarm of deadly knives kept at bay only by his Limitless technique. The Q Combatant was far too sufficient for what was to come, but for most people at this point, the rumors about Satoru Gojo’s abilities are still just hearsay.
Of course. I’m game, but let’s set some rules. You see, I don’t want to be yelled at for going out of line, so if you cry and apologize, I won’t kill you. This is our rule.
Of course, Gojo was going to respond to Bayer with all the arrogance of a young man who knows the rumors are true. Telling his enemy to cry and apologize to stay alive isn’t just trash talk, it’s a promise he intends to keep. This is just another look at how strength really is essential, especially for Satoru Gojo.

“Me, a target of the Great Sukuna? »
Season 1, Episode 2, “For Me”
Vicious curses abound in Jujutsu Kaisen. However, from the beginning of the anime, additional reverence is directed towards the ultimate evil, Ryomen Sukuna. Even the most powerful jujutsu wizards hesitate around Sukuna, making Gojo’s casual attitude a shock. It’s almost as if Gojo knew that Sukuna could be defeated, and it was only a matter of time.
Me, a target of the great Sukuna? What an honor!
Gojo’s sarcastic criticism of Sukuna’s threat is a perfect reflection of how relaxed he is so often in the face of danger. While most would cower and back away, Gojo lightens the mood and doesn’t succumb to fear. His confidence can unsettle the cursed spirits, but Sukuna is barely phased. Still, it’s a clear reminder that Gojo is the strongest for a reason, even if part of that reason is his flawless ego.

“Maybe I should just kill all the superiors. »
Season 1, Episode 5, “Curse Womb Must Die II”
Jujutsu Kaisen uses some impressive worldbuilding when it comes to its jujutsu wizard levels and the threat levels various curses pose. Jujutsu curses and witchcraft are not a regulated science, but there is still a chain of command to follow. Many jujutsu sorcerers know their place and express loyalty, but the quote above highlights Gojo’s desire to reinvent the system.
Maybe I should just kill all the superiors.
Gojo can be incredibly laid back when discussing something as dire as a jujutsu rebellion. He is not afraid to protect what is important to him – in this case, Itadori – and to express his own opinions rather than mindlessly operating as another cog in the jujutsu machine.
16
“Looking for someone to blame is just a pain. »
Season 1, Episode 5, “Curse Womb Must Die II”
Anime is full of powerful warriors, but what’s ultimately more impressive than brute strength is an infallible moral compass. Many admirable heroes struggle with responsibility and owning up to their mistakes, but not Satoru Gojo. Blaming and making excuses is a waste of time, as far as he’s concerned, and it’s one of the best things about him as a character. He accepts responsibility for himself and his actions.
Looking for someone to blame is just a painful task.
Satoru Gojo not only accepts his own flaws, but he resents those who hide behind empty excuses. Gojo considers it futile to blame others for his own mistakes, and he understands that true growth comes from acceptance and humility. Progress is impossible if individuals cannot make peace with their past and move forward properly.

“When everything is given to you, you can do nothing…”
Season 1, Episode 7, “Assault”
During his first fight against Jogo, Satoru triggers his domain expansion: Infinite Void. Instantly, Jogo notices that he is experiencing everything imaginable, but at the same time nothing. The amount of information and stimulation the cursed mind experiences in a few seconds is enough to paralyze it. Noticing the spirit’s predicament, Satoru grabs Jogo’s head and mocks his plight.
Perception, communication… every action associated with life is forcibly repeated an infinite number of times. It’s ironic, isn’t it? When everything is given to you, you can do nothing.
Jogo was arrogant about Gojo’s abilities before coming face to face with him for the first time, thinking that he could easily take down this so-called strongest Jujutsu wizard. He quickly learned that the claims about Gojo’s abilities were more than just assertions. He is truly the most powerful of all, and eliminating him would certainly require an alliance of cursed spirits.

“Don’t be shy now.”
Season 1, Episode 7, “Assault”
Throughout Gojo’s battle against Jogo in Season 1, the two had a lot of really good banter, as this was the first time Jogo got close to the great Satoru Gojo. Jogo was confident that defeating Gojo wouldn’t be a problem, but in truth, he couldn’t even get close to him without it slowing him down. Jogo soon learns why they claim Satoru Gojo is the most powerful Jujutsu wizard in the world.
Don’t be shy now. You’re embarrassing me too.
This moment was classic Gojo. It’s obvious from the start that it can’t take itself too seriously, despite its epic power. After all, what good would that do? It was a true character-defining moment, preparing new viewers for many great Gojo moments to come by instantly establishing just how ridiculous the world’s most powerful wizard could be.
