
Norman Reedus opened up about how different it was filming fight scenes for From the world of John Wick: Ballerina compared to The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
Talk with Collider at CCXP in Brazil, the actor explained how BallerinaThe fight scenes were far more choreographed than anything he ever had to do on The Walking Dead. “It’s a totally different style of fighting. The Walking DeadIt’s very sloppy, it’s very choreographed and a lot of people put it together to make it safe and spectacular,” Reedus said. “I’m pretty good with weapons after all this time, but it’s always a math problemeven in the TV show. Everything is mathematical. Combat calculations. You show an arrow, you go out of the frame, you go up numerically without the arrow and you show another arrow. There’s a calculation there.”

Reedus played The Walking Dead character Daryl Dixon since the first season of the AMC horror drama series. Widely considered one of the series’ most popular characters, Reedus received his own spinoff series following the conclusion of The Walking Dead in 2022. Title Daryl Dixonthe spinoff premiered on AMC in 2023 and has so far aired two seasons, each consisting of six episodes. A third season of Daryl Dixon is currently in production and expected to debut in 2025.
Ballerina is the first John Wick spin-off film
Although The Continental the prequel series is the first John Wick spin-off, Ballerina This will be the first time that the franchise has attempted to make a film not centered on its main character. Set between the events of John Wick: Chapters 3 And 4The upcoming spin-off follows Ana de Armas’ Eve Macarro, a young assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma named Rooney who seeks revenge on the people who killed her family. The character was briefly featured in the 2019 film. Chapter 3 – Parabellumplayed by Unity Phelan. Reedus stars in Ballerina like Daniel Pine, who remains shrouded in mystery.

Ballerina also stars Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and David Castañeda, while Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick, Ian McShane and Keanu Reeves reprise their roles from John Wick films as director, Charon, Winston Scott and John Wick, respectively. Ballerina will serve as Reddick’s final on-screen role following his death in 2023 at the age of 60. As for Reeves, his return was made possible thanks to the staging of Ballerina before the events of Chapter 4which ended with the supposed death of his character.
In November 2024, franchise producer Basil Iwanyk explained how de Armas was instrumental in convincing Reeves to make an appearance in Ballerina like John Wick. “[She’d] “I’ve known Keanu for years and she kind of helped me reach out and say, ‘Let’s do this, come on, it’ll be fun,'” he explained. “And so she really helped get Keanu excited about the movie. And Keanu is a big fan of Ana, so I think he was really excited about Ballerina once Ana came on board.” Reeves and de Armas previously worked together in the 2015 thriller film, Knock Knock.
Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina is scheduled to hit theaters on June 6, 2025.
