OXO Madrid Videogame Museum: 70 years of videogame history
First it was in Malaga and now the managers are opening it the second location of the OXO Video Game Museum in Madrid.
With more than 1,600 m2 dedicated to the history and evolution of video gamesthis new cultural space represents the second location of the project, following the success achieved by its predecessor in Malaga.
The initiative, promoted by Kaiju Group, a Malaga company specializing in culture, technology and entertainment, aspires to become a national point of reference for video game enthusiasts. The museum not only aims to preserve the historical memory of this interactive medium, but also encourage the development of new technological projects and act as a meeting point for the gaming community.
Permanent exhibition: 70 years of video games
The museum space is structured around a permanent exhibition covering seventy years of video game history. Visitors will be able to explore the evolution of the medium through a careful selection of platforms and titles which have characterized every era, from the first experiments to the latest innovations in virtual reality.
Among the most important objects in the permanent collection are original arcade machineswhich will allow visitors to experience the origins of arcade culture firsthand. The exhibition also features a wide choice of historic consolesperfectly preserved and functioning, which visitors can use to understand the technological evolution of the environment.
The idea of this museum is that it is something alive, not a museum just to look at (and admire) objects but, above all, to have fun: the history of video games is told in a fun way, with different consoles and arcade machines to play the classic Pong, Pac-Man or even games brought directly from Japan (watch out for Star Wars Pod or music games).
OXO Video Game Museum Madrid presents its first temporary exhibition “For us gamers: 30 years of PlayStation history”
As part of its inaugural programming, the museum presents the temporary exhibition “For us gamers: 30 years of PlayStation history”, an exhaustive tour of the history of one of the most influential brands in the entertainment industry digital. The exhibition, which coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the Japanese brand, allows visitors to interact with all generations of PlayStation consoles, from the original 1994 model to the current PlayStation 5.
The temporary exhibition includes unique elements such as a Gran Turismo simulation cabin and life-size figures of iconic characters of the brand. Visitors will be able to experience fundamental titles in the history of PlayStation, from classics such as Crash Bandicoot to contemporary productions such as The Last of Us or Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The museum designed a a complementary program that includes educational workshops, meetings with industry professionals, specialist courses and presentations. These activities seek to provide a deeper understanding of the medium and its cultural impact, as well as encourage the development of new talent in the industry.
To complete the experience, the museum has a specialized shop which will offer exclusive products linked to the exhibitions, allowing visitors to take with them a tangible memory of their visit.
