Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield shared his reaction to EuphoriaJacob Elordi replaces him in Guillermo del Toro’s next film Frankenstein movie. The sci-fi and gothic horror adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic 1818 novel is expected to debut sometime in 2025.
In March 2023, it was revealed that Garfield was in talks to join the cast of Del Toro’s film. Frankenstein film, with Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth. However, due to scheduling conflicts caused by last year’s SAG-AFTRA strikes, the Spider-Man: No Way Home the star had to leave the project. Shortly after, Elordi was then enlisted to take over the role of Garfield’s Frankenstein’s Monster. Talk with DeadlineGarfield confirmed that he had already met with Elordi, revealing that they were able to discuss the project. Despite his disappointment at missing out on the opportunity to work with del Toro, he admitted that he was very happy to hear that Elordi had a good time filming the film.

“I was just with Jacob Elordi, who ended up playing the character The Creature, in Marrakech, so I heard how amazing and satisfying it was for him. So I’m very, very happy that this either he did it,” Garfield said. “I am, of course, disappointed not to have been able to do it because I love Guillermo and I love Oscar [Isaac] and all those he has gathered. But meeting Jacob was really serendipitous, so I could really see and hear that,”No, maybe he needed this experience more than me.’ It was cool to feel like he had a really spectacular time doing the job.”

those of Netflix Frankenstein remake is written and directed by Del Toro, who previously worked with the streamer on the Oscar-winning stop-motion animated adaptation of Pinocchio. Besides Elordie, the cast also includes Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina), Mia Goth (Pearl), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), Felix Kammerer (All the light we can’t see), Lars Mikkelsen (Ahsoka), Charles Danse (Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (The Green Knight), David Bradley (Harry Potter), and Christian Convery (Gourmand), with Isaac and Waltz playing the roles of Victor Frankenstein and Dr. Pretorius, respectively. Production on the remake officially wrapped last October, after seven months of filming.

Frankenstein is expected to be released on Netflix in 2025.
