“I was a little worried about taking over from Bill Hurt, who was a wonderful actor,” Ford confessed in a recent interview with Empire. Recognizing the talent of the previous artist and finding a way to contribute his personal imprint was one of the main challenges for Ford.
Even if he admits that he isn’t a great expert on it MCUFord assures that his previous experience as a moviegoer influenced his decision: “I saw several Marvel films with wonderful actors, apparently having a lot of fun. I thought, ‘Why not me?'”
As for becoming the Red Hulk, Ford downplayed the complexity of the challenge: “I didn’t sit at home thinking, ‘What do I want to do when I become the Hulk?’ I focused on understanding the directors’ ambitions and being helpful to them. “I didn’t see it as a complicated acting challenge.”
Julius Onah’s vision of Ford as Red Hulk
The film’s director, Julius Onah, couldn’t contain his excitement when talking about the collaboration with Ford. “Having Harrison in this movie was amazing,” Onah commented. “Watching him transform into the Red Hulk was something none of us will soon forget.”
According to Onah, the crew was impressed by the 81-year-old actor’s performance: “Everyone on set thought, ‘Holy shit, he did it!'” “Going back to the Hulk breaking things and unleashing his rage was incredible.”
