Several recent publications on social networks from Pedro Pascal on the set of the latest film Fantastic Four the franchise shows the actor looking more and more like his Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic character. Pascal (The Last of Us) plays the iconic leader of the Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will be released in theaters in July 2025.
The X account Pedro Pascal Daily showed the actor signing autographs for fans, and another account, Marvel Journal showed the actor in a split-screen with his Fantastic Four character, noting the gray streak in Pascal’s hair that matches that of Reed Richards.
Official Fantastic Four synopsis revealed
Marvel recently released an official synopsis for the upcoming Phase Six film which, in addition to Pascal, stars Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch). The synopsis reads: “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1960s, Fantastic Four: first steps introduces Marvel’s First Family: Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet.
The summary continues: “Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth against a ravenous space god named Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner ).What if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone wasn’t bad enough, this suddenly becomes very personal. “

Fantastic Four: first steps is directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) and will have a retro vibe as it was inspired by the 1960s era and the excitement around the space race. “I really wanted to take all these great things from Apollo 11 and imagine that instead of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, it was the Storms and Ben Grimm and Reed Richards go into space“, Shakman said.
The Fantastic Four: the first steps already praised
Before its release, Fantastic Four: first steps is already garnering praise for its use of hands-on sets. Michael Giacchino, who composed the film’s music, said in a recent interview that he was impressed by the lack of blue/green screens on set. “I was just on set for a week. It was something to see real sets everywhere,” Giacchino said. “There was no volume or green screen to be found. It was just beautiful scenery. They do an incredible job and the actors are all superb.”

Pascal currently stars in Gladiator II
Pascal can currently be seen in the Ridley Scott film Gladiator II, which is currently in theaters. Prior to its release in the United States, the film debuted in 63 foreign markets with an estimated $87 million, marking the largest overseas debut for a Scott-directed film. It is also Paramount’s best foreign premiere for an R-rated American film. “This film has an identity that is shaped by [Russell Crowe’s] legacy,” Pascal said in July. “I think a lot happens before you can stop and question what you’ve done. And of course, nothing can change it. He’s a very, very good general, which could mean a very good killer.”
Pascal is also expected to return as Reed Richards in 2026. Avengers: Apocalypse and 2027 Avengers: Secret Wars.
