The Batman film from the DC universe, The brave and the boldjust received a long-awaited update. James Gunn, the creative visionary behind the new shared universe, recently revealed what’s delaying the highly anticipated reboot of The Dark Knight mythos.
Talk with Collider, Gunn shared that DC Studios was in no rush to get The brave and the bold in productionexplaining that they won’t put an inferior version of a film into production just to meet a deadline. “There is no set timetable for anything. The one thing I’ve tried to make people understand from the beginning, in the sense that I hope we’re different, is that everything at DC will be based on the writers”, Gunn said. “Until we have a script that I’m completely happy with, this movie won’t get made, whatever it is.”

Gunn then explained how DC Studios had “been very lucky with some storylines,” sharing that Ana Nogueira’s Supergirl the storyline was “incredible” and the team behind Lanterns did a “wonderful job”. He concluded, “But it will always be based on that, on the story, because at the end of the day, if we’re happy with the story that we’re telling, that’s what matters most. And once The brave and the bold got to that point, then we’ll make the film. »
The Brave and the Bold will adapt a popular Batman story
Gunn’s comments are the first major update that The brave and the bold has received since the announcement that The lightning director Andy Muschietti would direct the film. The brave and the bold will be inspired by writer Grant Morrison and artist Any Kubert on DC Comics Batmanparticularly their 2006 comic book story arc, “Batman and Son”, which focused on Bruce Wayne learning that he had fathered a son, Damian, with Talia al Ghul, the daughter of his nemesis, Ra’s al Ghul. While no screenwriter has been announced yet, Gunn’s comments strongly suggest that there is a screenwriter (or two) in place working hard to adapt the storyline for the DCU.
No casting for The brave and the bold has yet to be revealed, although many actors have thrown their name in the ring to play the DCU’s Batman, such as Marvel stars Jake Gyllenhaal (Mysterio) and Winston Duke (M’Baku), Reach directing Alan Ritchson, and It ends with us actor Brandon Sklenar. The latter recently received the endorsement of Blake Lively, his It ends with us co-star who previously starred in the DC movie Green Lantern opposite her future husband Ryan Reynolds. “I see this Batman chatter. I volunteer as a tribute. [James Gunn] knows how to give people what they need. And they need it,” she wrote on Instagram.

Creature Commandos Introduces Familiar Voice Actor for DCU’s Clayface
The actor behind DC Universe’s Clayface in Creature Commandos has been revealed and it’s someone who has previously voiced the Batman villain.
The DCU is officially set to kick off in December with the adult animated series, Creature Commandoswhich takes place after the events of Peacemaker Season 1 (which is almost 100% canon in the new universe). With Amanda Waller’s hands operationally tied, meaning she is no longer able to put human lives on the line, she recruits a ragtag band of misfits, much like Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, to carry out his morally dubious clandestine missions.
Creature Commandos premieres on Max on December 5. The brave and the bold does not yet have a release date.
